  • Typically..Baseball is Limited by Budget re Travel

Baseball, for many schools, does not earn the revenue that football brings in.

Baseball travel is an expense that there is often pressure to contain. Conference travel can't be helped and must be budgeted...but, when it comes to playing OOC opponents, baseball teams often look for an opponent within a reasonable bus ride. No jet setting across country on chartered planes like the big boys of football.

Geography becomes a limiting factor. You typically schedule away OOC games with programs within a 300 mile or so radius....

If you draw a circle around Wichita with a radius of 300 miles and redlined the included college programs, that pretty much would include the practical OOC away opponents for the Shockers.

And yet WSU travels quite a bit further than that and play on the West Coast every year.

Do you have some facts and data to back-up your assertions?

Only the ACC, SEC, BE schedules...I haven't looked at the western conferences.

YEP! sometimes on weekends I throw the surfboard in my car and drive the short 300 miles to the pacific coast. thats what is so great about kansas.

go away, youre starting to prove your ignorance.

Also I guarantee Gene would go to florida for a series with you guys but MM aint having it. Just like that turd down in Austin who refuses to play.

We've had home and home series' within the past five seasons with the following clubs:

              Long Beach (every year)
              Fullerton
              Arizona State
              USC
              South Alabama
              Richmond
              Pepperdine
              Louisiana Lafayette

              So much for that theory...

Wichita does travel further than we typically do in the BCS eastern conferences for non conference games....

We don't fly, except to conference games..like Miami, Boston, North carolina, Virginia, etc..

So a guy tries to make a point, only to disprove his own point 20 minutes after starting it?

I guess you have to travel when you are in the middle of Kansas...

Gawd...I remember stories of transplanted westerners in Florida going on about how they drove 75 miles to go to a supermarket (I didn't really believe that at the time).

Heck..here I think it is against the state constitution to have a more than a 5 mile stretch without a liquor store.

yes I have to drive from Wichita to KC once a month to get grocries. Worse yet the roads created by pilgrims wagon wheels are starting to get pretty rough. So sometimes I float down the arkansas to get to tulsa.

I just got indoor sanitary sewer plumbing last year, right after they ran the electricity to my house.

                            It's fantastic!
