Other than that...it was non BCS teams.

And...the non BCS teams primarily come to your house. Gives a lot of home games...the BCS games are always on return basis so you have to play at their house the next year.
WSU is non-BCS and has plenty of BCS teams on the schedule every year. OU, Ok State, Nebraska, KU, K-State, Washington State this year, and Arizona State and ORU and Long Beach.

I have no complaints about our OOC.

Words have meaning... I can only interpret what you write.

I don't care what league or conference you come from, when you give out bids you give it based on a body of work.

I will say this - my philosophy would be if there is two teams from two conference and 1 is the 2nd place team and the other is the 7th place team and their body of work is equal - I would give it to the 2nd place team.

SWMO still didn't deserve to go to the NCAA tournament.

Yeah...WSU had six games this year in regular season with BCS teams...I'll give you credit.

The same number that FSU had with Georgia and North Carolina.

        But...for OOC, that ain't bad.

Well, tell Nebraska and OK State to schedule a series with us instead of meeting up just one time a year. We got rained out twice with OU this season as well. We can't help that regional BCS programs don't want to schedule us. Mizzou doesn't want any, Arkansas dropped us. In the midwest we are not surrounded by all the D1-programs as teams like Florida State have the luxury of seeing.

How many D1 teams in the state of FL? FSU, Miami, Florida, Central Florida, South Florida, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, and Jacksonville - there's 10 I can think of in just one state. We barely have 10 D1 programs surrounding WSU in 6 surrounding states. Nebraska, Creighton, K-State, KU, OSU, OU, ORU, Mizzou, SE Missouri, St. Louis, Arkansas, Central Arkansas, Northern Iowa, Iowa and Northern Colorado.

          Just sayin'.

            Florida teams?

Well...we do have a bunch of teams.

Gulf Coast, Stetson, North Florida, & Jacksonville University play in the Atlantic Sun conference with Kennesaw State, Mercer, Lipscomb, et al. But, other than Jacksonville U., they usually aren't very competitive.

But we are blessed with play alternatives...within a five hour drive, we have dozens of available opponents..in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.

South Alabama is a good little team as is UAB. Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, and University of Florida give SEC competition. This year, we played four with Auburn, two with Georgia (third game rained out), and three with U of Florida. All a reasonable drive away.

You basically just proved KC's whole point.

You have about 20 D1 schools to play within a 5 hour drive. We have about 7.

If we extended out the drive a little, it could include the DFW area, which would give us 4 more teams to play?

I think the whole point is that the schools on the coasts have a major advantage over those in the midwest. Weather, number of schools, etc...

WSU has to spend lots of money to play quality opponents. Maybe they should start scheduling multiple game series during the week against the other schools instead of the one and done deals? That wouldn't really work out well I don't think.

Actually...he proved my point about the limitation of playing OOC schools being within a 300 mile radius of WSU...

                  That was my thread....

Did you leave out Missouri St. (SWOMO) on purpose? Either way it is kind of funny.

LOL! I did forget about them, not on purpose but I guess that little insignifigant program slipped my mind.

Anyway, my real point is that WSU's athletic budget is a tiny fraction to FSU's. Combined with the lack of D1 programs surrounding us and factor in those who are do not want to schedule us, WSU is very limited on what it can and can't do with scheduling.

Our travel budget, I'm fairly certain, is miniscule compared to FSU's so we can't afford to travel to the east or west coasts on a regular basis. Luckily, I would say WSU's attendance for baseball is enough to pay for schollies, the travel and accomdations for the team, salaries, upkeep, and just enough to make a small profit. But I'm pretty sure we are at the break even point by year's end.

By the way Billy, you mentioned Stetson, so there's 11 D1 teams in the state of Florida right there. Lucky you. How could I have forgotten them -what are they called - the Hatters, the Mad Hatters? They've had some quality teams in the past.

We actually did get to play OU the second time around in Norman. I remember because it was a disaster. KWJ misplayed a routine fly ball to left that could have ended the game in our favor. Everything fell apart after that and we lost. To be fair to Kenny, it was just before he was diagnosed with Mono, so in hindsight, that may have been a factor.
