Sure, billybud, sure. Believe whatever you like. Jones did nothing wrong, plain and simple. Some of you FSU fans are incredible. Good luck trying to finally get a CWS title.

This is how the Noles see it...from web sources...

"Tony's injury had a lot to do with the emotion that we played with," longtime assistant coach Jamey Shouppe said after the Seminoles' 11-4 victory in the deciding game three Sunday. "Every other guy that wore that uniform, that had the opportunity to put it on the next day, didn't forget what happened to Tony Delmonico. There was a lot of built-up frustration because it was a shot at one of our guys, plain and simple. And it was outside the rules of the game."

On the play in question, Delmonico was forced to come off of second base to catch a toss from second baseman Jason Stidham. But instead of sliding into the base, FSU's coaches and players believed that Wichita State outfielder Ryan Jones intentionally barreled into Delmonico's lower body.

"It's one of your boys, and he went out on a bad slide," FSU assistant coach Mike Martin Jr. said. "The rulebook in college clearly states you can't do that. That was something that really stuck with our guys. The guy couldn't even compete with his team."

It looks to me like the Noles were genuinely upset but that the coaches also, with certain calculation, used the incident to maintain emotion through the games.

Have you even seen the replay billy? It is so obvious that it wasn't on purpose. You should just be happy that your boys used this "non-event" as a rallying point and were able to move on to the CWS. As for you, I think it's time to go home to Nole land. You are contributing nothing to this board other than rehashing the same BS over and over again.

Jones did nothing wrong, plain and simple.?

Ahhhh...that is the crux of the debate.

FSU coaches believed that Jones purposely went wide and targeted their 2nd baseman rather than slide for the bag (and in college ball, that is against the rule).

Hey...if FSU's slide into the catcher (and it was malicious) had knocked the guy out of the series...you don't think Shockers would be upset?

That's my whole point. Why comment when you haven't seen it? If you watch the replay it is obvious that Jones did nothing wrong. Good luck in the CWS and congrats on the win, the better team won.

Tyler was in the sliding path. So if they slide had taken him well he shouldnt have been in the way.

Now the kick at the end of his slide if that would have taken him out then thats a whole nother issue.

Ryan Jones was starting his slide when Delmonico was pulled off the bag. Helen Keller could see that a collison was about to take place. Jones did what he could to not make it worse because if he would have continued his slide it would have been alot worse. Its not our fault you people have been stuck in the sun to long to see that.

An FSU player made a similar not-directly-at-the-base slide in an attempt to break up a DP. Since he slid on his left side and bent his left knee toward the base, it looked ok. But his body was mostly right of the base.

While I haven't watched a lot of college baseball, something tells me that it is customary to slide just barely - call it adjacent - to the right of 2nd base and the umps let it go. Now that somebody finally gets hurt their fans suddenly have a problem. Yet on none of the three slides in question did the umpire call anything illegal. After what happened in the 1st inning on Friday, I would have expected them to be more sensitive to it. But they weren't.

If I'm wrong about that, fine. I'm wrong. But the way the umps called it tells me I'm not.

And as for the "spikes up" slide by Coleman that all the FSU fans are saying was dirty, by the time his spikes started up (which I think was caused by contact with the base or Delmonico's back foot), he couldn't have done any damage.

The WSU slides were not malicious. The FSU slide was. FSU fans would like to believe that only the end-result matters, intentions don't. Sorry, but I beg to differ.

If all this needs to be rehashed, so be it.

Watch the replay of the entire play from the time the ball is hit. If you believe there was anything wrong with Jones' slide, come back and tell us what Jones did wrong.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Anyone who thinks Jones did anything wrong is a complete idiot and probably at least mildly retarded.

Of the four slides that have been discussed (two by either team) only one was out of line and dirty. And that was the one by Holt at home. Even Eddie said as much and we know what a homer he was this weekend.

Let's just all agree to disagree and move on. We should all be so tired in having to be reminded about FSU and us not advancing. Season is over.
