Listen if this team had any malicious intent that we have retaliated in response to the only dirty play in the series and thrown right at Holt in his next AB. Heck even Terry Elliot was surprised that didn’t happen.
I think you guys are focusing on something negative in order to hate FSU.
This is the silliest comment I have seen in a long time. I wish we had your hitting coach; your team batting is awesome. Your pitching was better than I expected. You have a team that deserves a Top Five ranking.
Now the members of your team did not impress me. Your catcher will not hit that well in the pros. (Feel free to disagree with me. Check back in five years; my prediction is that he will hit some out but he will strike out fairly often in MLB.)
I wouldn't go that far and say he won't hit in the MLB. Obviously, he won't be as successful, but I think he can be around .300. He has one hole in his swing and its the outside pitch. But pull hitters like himself are successful in the majors - look at David Ortiz, Barry Bonds, to name a couple.
Although I can think of many guys who were just as good as him in their hayday in college and their bat did not transition well over to the majors like Mark Kotsay, JD Drew, Phil Nevin to name a few.
I see Posey more like a poor-man’s Alex Gordon and I think most are now convinced that Gordon does not have the major league power that everyone projected. Call me crazy but I have a strong gut feeling Connor will have a more fruitful major league career than Buster.
Though I'm not sure Posey has to be a great hitter. If he can learn to call a game, I see a MLB future for him.
Conor, OTOH, will probably get moved to 1B or OF to hide his glove (or improve dramatically on defense), meaning he'll have to add quite a bit of power to get a sniff of the majors. Just my $.02.
You have to wonder how he projects as a catcher since he isn't allowed to call games. That's a huge part of the job I would think. I guess they'll find out when he signs. Maybe he'll be a quick learner as well...
I think he will be fine as a catcher and in fact have read that the Giants current catcher Bengie Molina is upset with GM Brian Sabean because Sabean said that Buster is on the fast track to the majors and hinted that Molina's days in SF are numbered.
THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!
Why don't more college baseball programs let the catcher call the game?
College coaches are control freaks. Plus, most don't bother developing that skill since a guy might only catch for 2-3 seasons in a program.

This is a non-issue. The vast majority of non-professional catchers do not call their own games. Posey is a very intelligent guy, i.e. Academic All-American caliber - he'll do fine.
Posey is a converted infielder, so who knows, maybe he'll get a look at other positions. His arm is rated average or slightly above, and I think his accuracy is a question mark. He's only caught for a couple seasons, so perhaps his catching skills are a work in progress
I'd be more concerned about wear-and-tear on a guy as a catcher. There aren't many Johnny Bench type guys out there, and if Posey can hit in the big leagues and that is his biggest asset, he might move out from behind the plate to prolong his career ... if he makes that far.

Do the coaches have no confidence in their ability to understand what's going on?
Also, I wonder if Buster projects as a catcher, or do the Giants have other plans for him?
This is why WSU has had so many catchers get drafted and a couple had pretty good careers in the bigs. I like the fact that Gene let's them call games. It makes it seem more professional.

Ditto Royal not to mention its much easier to get to the majors as a catcher...he has good defensive skills, great arm, and will be able to hit somewhere over .265 at least.
KC I think this BC thing is being over amp'ed here by a few fsu fans...It seems to come up when we play someone we havent played because some guy knows about it...I saw some of the initial posters who brought it up and almost no one knew anything about it...As far as Gene's and MM's relationship...MK mentioned that Eduardo Perez told MM exaclty what transpired at second base and the next day at home...so he should know the truth. Maybe hes willing to let it be their..."Warchant" for the time being but I think their friendship should be fine.
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"
Look...FSU's Delmonico was off the bag. The WSU player deliberately, in an attempt to break up the play, went wide into the player. In fact, the WSU player had to reach with his hand to try to hit the base.
The WSU player said as much..that he was doing "whatever he could" (direct quote) to break up the play. That is baseball. But...going wide to target a player won't win you sportsmanship points and the Noles were upset that one of their sluggers was hit hard twice (once with deliberation) and taken out of the series...
Call it gamesmanship, but the Nole coaches know how important emotion can be and the incident was used to keep focus and emotion high....evidently a winning strategy.
What was much more important, and not being talked about as much, is why the Shockers only got one hit in six innings off Ryan Strauss...
All in all...it doesn't amount to much...a guy was injured in an important series, the FSU guys were upset...and that energy was succesfully channelled.
But...the series really was impacted by..
1. WSU's pitchers being off their feed with walks, hit batters...
2. FSU's batting #1-9 without an easy out..patient at the plate.
3. FSU's power at the plate.
4. The inability of WSU to score runs the last two games...
It also can be easier to hide a rapid increase in bulk and strength over a short period of time that could be related to a huge workout routine or perhaps some kind of performance enhancing.
PS Your final points we all agree with...the better team won the series. Continuing to rehash the lie about the injury to your player as some sort of motivating factor, however, is boring, troubling and not welcomed.
