  • You guys are great fans, and have a great program

but some of what you focus on is just plain silly.

We lose a guy who has started every game this year, who takes a first hit (of two hits) on the third pitch of the first game (resulting in stitches), and yet several of you play the victim. Some here justify a hit by pitch on a guy in the on deck circle with some phantom rule of baseball, and yet I just sat in the stands and watched dozens of your players "time their swings" in the on deck circle. You say we somehow slighted you with a late inning steal. I have sat in Howser and seen us come back from a 10-1 deficit in the 9th against a #1 ranked Miami team, and some of you guys want us to lay down for you ? Complaining about our attendance. Questioning why we do "football cheers" (whatever that is). If you guys listened to Gene after the game, you heard we he had to say about our atmosphere.

I know you'll lay into me, and I know this is a whiney post right after a tough loss. But I have never seen fans show some of the sensitivities you guys did. And I know it's just a few guys.

Having said that, I think you guys are unparralled fans and have always respected your program. I would love to play a home and home with you, and I know we owe you one. Good luck to you guys, even if some of you seem to have lost respect for our program. :wsu_posters:

I agree. There are some WSU fans who are too old fashioned for my taste. What I observed on the radio and tv at your regional was a great atmosphere. "Football style chants have no business in baseball" gimme a break.

If I was an FSU fan watching the game at that park, no doubt I would have gotten my money's worth not only watching the team play great, but have a fun time interacting with the entire crowd.

Don't get too bent out of shape on some of those posters on warchant or on rivals.com. Some of them do not even post on this board.

Some of what any fans say on any given day is plain silly. You know your fellow noles fans were silly on the first day too.

I didn't see anyone playing the victim on Delmonico's injury. We just hated that so many noles fans were stupid and kept booing RJ all series long. That is just ignorance and a guy like RJ doesn't deserve that. That is the one of the only things that I take away from this series as a negative on FSU fans. Other things may not be for me, but that isn't a negative. (I wasn't happy with Holt kicking TWeb either, but that isn't a fan issue)

I didn't see anyone talk about the incident from years ago here. Maybe on your boards, but I don't see anyone here talking about it and I know I don't excuse anything there. Almost every WSU hitter times the swings and there is nothing wrong with it.

A few people felt slighted, but I didn't. Not in college, not with aluminum. I can live with that and most of us were fine with it.

We complain about the attendance because it really sucked that we didn't get a chance to host a regional or super when last year we packed the house for those games. It would have been nice to see some more people in the seats and it is more sad then anything that FSU couldn't pack the park.

When I questioned why you did the football cheers, I was wondering more about why each cheer was used, ie the history behind it, like the O Canada one. The atmosphere was fine, but that type of forced cheerleading rah rah has never been my personal favorite in terms of atmosphere. I like raw emotional spur of the moment cheering. The thousands of us in OSU's park didn't need cheer sheets to know what to say.

But all and all, especially compared to other tough losses, the fandom back and forth has been pretty good between WSU and FSU. You just have to understand that when the season is on the line, everything gets magnified. We understood that after the first game.

Gene seems to like your coach Mike Martin and that's good enough for me; I hope he gets his first CWS title this year.

As for your comments, I didn't like the (second) slide into Delmonico in the first game and I didn't like Holt's kick in the second game. Jones did nothing wrong when he slid into Delmonico and this contact is the reason FSU "los(t) a guy who has started every game this year". I don't fault Gene or Mike (Martin) for backing their players because (i) they probably didn't have instant replay during the games and (ii) coaches try to support their players. If you support unfair play, that is your decision. I don't.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:

No reason to come on our board and try to start a fight after a win. Good luck to your team in the CWS!

I hope they win the whole thing. This will allow me to say, "oh well, we got eliminated by the CWS champs - no big deal".

I am not sure, why any Shocker would get p*ssy with the Seminole fans.

Even if there was a hiccup, it is not worth talking about.

The series was just fine on both sides. Both teams played hard. Fans cheered.

And the Seminoles kicked our butts.

There is no crying/whining in baseball.

First off, congrats on the win. Florida State was clearly the better team the last two days. Your coach needs to tell your players Omaha is single loss elimination and watch out. The atmosphere was great, the chants are mostly fun to listen to. To me that's what college sports is all about and it is part of the reason I love college football so much.

I'm disappointed we didn't get it to Omaha, but after a regular season where we went something like 0-6 against Top 25 teams you can not complain. Making a long post season run and making super regionals again for a second year in a row was freaking sweet. Hopefully, we return next year & do make it to Omaha :). Oh the attendance thing was just a little jealously that we didn't get to host you guys (after having a great time with Irvine last year) :D since Eck can hold 8-9k and we are trying to expand it a little more 8). Just ignore those.

The only thing I didn't understand about FSU today was stealing second late in the game when it was clear that our team wasn't doing anything offensively. Not a big deal, we shouldn't have allowed him on in the first place  . One thing that did tick me off was bringing up the idiot (to keep it G rated) Ben C before the series began. He should NEVER EVER be given any credit of even mentioning his name as a Shocker.

Anyways, good luck in Omaha. You guys have a top notch team & it was great to go against you. I'm firm believer that, if you want to be the best, you have to play the best. We definitely did it this weekend and hopefully the baseball program gets even better because of this & last season.

While the BC incident cannot be condoned the rewriting of history of the batter being in the on-deck circle practicing swinging during the pitchers warm-up is not what happened. All batters swing in the on-deck circle. Molina was not in the on-deck crcle and was in fact on the opposite side of the plate from his on-deck circle. This does not excuse throwing a ball and hitting him but it is certainly not the same as being in the on-deck circle and taking practice swings. For some reason the story keeps getting changed to Molina being in the on deck circle and not up near the plate to take his practice swings.

I would love to have FSU visit Wichita for a game. Perhaps maybe a late February or early March game, so you can experience some of the temperature extremes we have to play in. Just as you provided air conditioning for a little relief from the ambient, we will make sure you can get some heat after the game here.

Twister, Ben C was a good pitcher and will always be a shocker no matter what. What he did has nothing to do with today and won't ever have anything to do with future things as well.

Did he steal your girlfriend or something, cause that was really unwarranted.

Nothing football about those cheers. Purely softball.

Good luck in Omaha. Maybe you'll do something this year.

                              Congrats on the win.
