We'll face their righty today, Elih Villenueva. In looking at his stats, this guy is fully capable of shutting down a top tier team:
NC State - 7 innings 0 runs allowed
Virginia - 7.2 innings 1 run allowed
UNC - 9 innings 2 runs allowed
Clemson - 7 innings 1 run allowed
He's also been roughed up against top tier teams as well, but not as much.
GT - 6.1 innings 5 runs allowed
Florida - 6 innings 6 runs allowed
Miami - 2 innings 5 runs allowed
Pluses for the Shox, we have a lot of left handed hitters in our line up. With the belief of KWJ starting today, he'll go from the left side too. This will be favorable in trying to take advantage of that 320' right field porch at FSU's stadium.
Must do's: Get out in front early. Our hitters must take advantage of that right field wall, but wil FSU give anything to our lefties inside or over the plate to pull is the question. If not, they must do a great job in going the other way. Rob must be the Rob of the entire season. He cannot have an off day against this lineup.
We've had pitchers have an off day against the SIU's and Bradleys of the world but we were able to overtake a lead or break the tie, against FSU, if we get behind it won't be very easy coming back on them - if not impossible.
Did I mention Rob already? Rob, I know you know this, but I am asking you to keep the ball down please! If we get men on base, do we get agressive with steals against Posey? Put some pressure on FSU with our speed? Or do we play small ball against FSU? I say we test Posey and see if he has seen speed like ours.
I'll continue to do my part, not listening to the radio, watch the game on tv, or checking gametracker for the scores. As soon as I do, bam! I'll jinx them. Also, I'm already doing the Tomahawk Chop right now! Go FSU, go FSU! :D
