Describe in great detail the setup to this play and the play please. Make me feel like I was there.

Runners on second and third one out. Batter takes a ball to right field and Ryan runs like hell and dives forward to snag the ball in his glove about 1 inch above the grass. Runner on third tags up and heads home. Ryan comes up gunning and weber proceeds to set up at the plate perfectly blocking the plate with his lower left leg. Runner arrives just before the tag but since weber blocked the plate he gets the tag and the runner misses the base. Inning over... Game over. It couldn't have been executed any better. Perfect catch throw and tag at the plate for 2 outs. It was spectacular. If you have seen "the throw" by Audli to Mirabelli it was like that but from right field and the throw was a hair later and on a dime as Weber didnt have to lunge for the tag the slightest. Hows that for play by play from an "internet sheriff"?

Top of the seventh 1 out runners at 3rd and 2nd shallow fly ball to right jones running in dives makes the catch runner at third tags and heads for home jones to his feet throws a strike to Weber for the tag double pay game over.

            Rose,
10 and others have captured the essense of the game ending play better than I may attempt.
For an overall perspective from an on-site observation, the game itself was a major league beat down. The dogs took it like a they knew it was coming, boarded their team bus and trudged back to their hotel.
            That about sums it up.
Man it sure is windy here tonight. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

I'm sure glad all three of our news stations were able to show the highlights of the play at the end. I was kinda looking forward to it.

Note to sports people/photographers: Instead of cheaping it, and just getting 'what you need to cover a highlight reel', try and stay for the whole game and loop some 'lights together. I know there's a lot of work to do to tie it into the sports slot right after gametime, but it's been done before.

Don't be so lazy. You missed a great ending.

And it didn't even make it into the 9th inning.. Jesus.. :-x

Oh and I'm glad the Callahan whinies lost. I was tired of all of that complaining. For as much as SIU does to us in basketball, it's nice to serve em up in baseball.

Ah -- you make it sound sooooo easy. Something tells me MSU isn't gonna lie down and die for us. Last night was fun, fun, fun to watch. What an ending! I don't necessarily think it's great baseball when you rout another team that way, but it's fun once in awhile (particularly at tournament time). Go Shocks!!!!!!!

Oh, believe me, I wasn't implying at all that it would be easy or MSU was simply gonna lie down for us. There fighting for the NCAA lives afterall.

Man, we start beating the crap outta teams now and people still complain. It may not be 'fun' baseball in your mind, but we showed offense and we did something we should've been doing all year, shutting out teams and destroying them.

Calm down -- that was said tongue-in-cheek and was certainly no complaint. I'll take a rout any day to a loss. I like it when we are always about 3 runs head. Close enough for the opponent to THINK they have a chance, but not close enough for them to catch up. Actually -- scratch all that I just said. All I want is for the Shoxs to win -- however they may do it.

SERIOUSLY! NO ONE had video of the game-ending dbl play!! If it had been 10 o'clock and the guys were lining up for their live shots, understandable. But the game was headed for an early ending -- what was the rush to put down the cameras!? Excellent play -- Jones-to-Weber. AWESOME GUYS!

Interesting selection by Gene to start Kevin Hall in left. Worked out great.

The kid is on fire and his confidence growing.

Other than that, my main thought after the games was:

                            Oh Joy!

Great still shot in the Eagle online of what I assume was Ryan Jones' 7th inning catch preceding his throw to the plate for a game ending double play.

Now that is what I call laying out for the ball. Not bad for a kid not even worthy of MVC honorable mention recognition.

P.S. Any video on that play to send to ESPN. I have not seen it, but from what I heard and have read sounds like it is worthy of an ESPY nonimation.

Nope. Wichita's 3 finest media outlets were in too big of a hurry getting ready for their 10:25pm spots at 9:00. They gave it a good effort though, but just didn't have the time.
