    • How pathetic. It's not like Central Arkansas played a good game - they did everything to give this to the Shockers.

      • Thanks for nothing KNSS you suk! Give up your rights to somebody else.

        • The Shox pissed this game away, not KNSS.

          • Here is a scary thought - WSU Baseball in 2009.

            • Central Arkansas did everything in their power to hand us that game in the 8th and 9th innings and the Shocks simply did not want it enough to reach out a take it.

The positive spin from this game is that is should eliminate any need to have further discussions about hosting a regional.

We can now turn our attention to where we would like to go for our regional assignment, assuming we don't completely fold over the next couple of weeks.

              • K-State beats ASU tonight 7-6. I hope WSU shows up half as pissed as the ASU team certainly will.

                • i dont know about any of you, but i expected this sort of outcome after the first two innings.

our pitching gave up, what, 4 home runs and 8 runs?

it doesnt really matter who your playing, its tough to come back usually.

we had a ton of injured people not playing. tyler weber playing 3B for crying out loud!

if you take a step back, you can rationalize this loss and not take it so hard.

lets just hope the team can rebound for tomorrow night against the best team we'll face on paper, a good team to play to get ready for the regionals.

                  • Two other positives...Smith and McKeever pitched well. But, the Shocks (for the most part) still can't hit the ball, even if it were on a tee.

                    • here's another positive for you - at least the team chemistry is good.

probably getting even better right about now.

                      :-x

                      • Here's another positive about tonight's loss. I have pretty much sewn up the win regarding the bet with Hays! Muuuuuhaahaaaahaaaa! (See Hawks versus Shox thread)

What I rationalize is their opponent did everything in the last 2 innings to give this game away. I wouldn't be worked up about the hitting part, if their opponent came in and was pitching well (or decently), but that wasn't the case.

The shox just need to put the bat on the ball and it was there for the taking. But that not what happend - just a little recap:

                          8th inning
                          Hall - Walk
                          Lassley - Walk
                          Workman on error
                          Dirks HBP
                          Coleman Walked
                          Jones - K
                          McKeever - K
                          Caster - K

                          9th Inning
                          Weber single
                          Engrav HBP
                          Lassley - doubled

                          Workman - K
                          Jones - Pop Up

                          Dirks walks
                          Coleman grounds out weakly.

I don't know how anybody really can have any expectations for this team. No bullpen, hitting just sucks. The hitters they do have are injured. Nobody else want's to step up. It wouldn't suprise me if this team rolls over and will lose a couple games to EU and BU and SWMO wins the league.

I suppose a fan could try to rationalize this loss if that's what makes them happy.

However, when you look at the 8th and the 9th innings we simply did not perform when UCA basically said we will let you guys win this game if you want to.

Tying run on 3rd, winning run on 2nd with no outs in the 9th and the top of the order up. Workman, Jones, Dirks and Coleman. All front line players against anything but top line pitching. Failure to at least tie the game in that situation was a monumental failure and one that should and will be penalized when regional sites are selected.

                            • I watched this team in Terre Haute and thought this is an injury to a certain player away from being an ordinary, at best, baseball team.
                              Bingo!
They will be fortunate, very fortunate, to hold on and win The Valley.
The aura of dominance this program has enjoyed over the years is gone. They are no better than MSU and a play or two from being on the level of the UNI and CU's of the world.
Tonight's debacle perpetuates a string of futility that started a week ago Sunday at InSU.
The lackluster game w/KSU followed by the blown game at OU and then tonight - ugh.
Things that occur over and over is not an isolated incident.
It's called a trend. And a bad one at that. 8)
Above all, make the right call.
