Jenista is MVP of the Cape!

COTUIT, Mass. – Wichita State baseball student-athlete Greyson Jenista has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Cape Cod League. Jenista plays for the Cotuit Kettleers.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Congratulations to Greyson. Is he playing mostly outfied this summer? I posted previously that this coming season may be the last as Shockers for Jenista and Bohm. Thoses odds have probably excalated quite a bit based on the Summers they both have had in the Cape.

      Summer Baseball Update #3

All the Shocks playing this summer seem to have played reasonably well to very well with the exception of Dayton Dugas.

I like the nickame Jacob Katzfey has picked up in the Florida League this summer. The Big Kat. Hopefully, he will stay healthy this next spring.

Edit: I think I answered by own question. In looking at the team stats for Jenista's teams he has 316 PO's in 40 games so he is definitely playing mostly 1B this summer.

I think he just assured himself a huge bump in the draft. The cape is top top top.
He picked the right time to "Go off" and plenty of scouts were there to see it.

Statistically, at least offensively, Greyson's Shocker teammate, Alec Bohm, had a much better summer in the Cape so I am assuming Greyson has done something not reflected in the stats to set himself apart. Perhaps leadership, great defense and/or clutch hitting. Maybe the Cape actually picks the player who was the most valuable to his team and not just the league stats leader.

          Current hitting stats:

          Alec Bohm - .358 BA (2nd), 28 RBI (T-2nd), 5 HR (T-9th), .402 OPB + .523 SLP = .925 OPS (7th with > 100 AB's), 31.698 Runs Created (2nd)

          G. Jenista - .317 BA (10th), 16 RBI (T-28th), 3 HR (T-23rd), .399 OPB + .410 SLP = .809 OPS (18th with > 100 AB's), 22.51 Runs Created (9th)

In any case, both of these guys should be heading into their junior seasons with a high level of confidence.

Sounds like Greyson's attitude and effort went a long way to earning him Cape Cod MVP. Nice to see those kind of things rewarded.

I believe that the summer season in the Cape is over for both Greyson Jenista and Alec Bohm as both of their teams went 0-2 in the best of 3 Division Semi-Finals.

However, it wasn't because the Shockers failed to perform.

Jenista's Cotuit Kettleers lost 3-6 and 2-4 games to the Bourne Braves. Greyson was 5 - 10 (0.500) with a home run and 2 RBI in those games.

Bohm's Falmouth Commodores lost 5-10 and 3-4 to the Wareham Gatemen. Alex was 4-7 (0.571) plus 3 walks in those 2 games.

Congrats to both Greyson and Alex for very strong showings this summer. Hopefully, that will carry over to next Spring.

One of the better summer for Shocker baseball. It looks like WSU should be stacked position player wise. Now lets hope Coach Steele worked some magic with the pitching staff.

Nice article on Greyson Jenista in the Lawrence Journal-World.

Few things in sports are as difficult to project as a baseball player’s bat.For example, Mike Piazza has a bust in Cooperstown, but even with the endorsement of Ted Williams, who had worked with him on his swing one day in his basement, and family friend Tommy Lasorda, Piazza wasn’t selected until the 62nd round of the Major League free-agent draft.

Baseball America ranked Greyson Jenista as the #1 pro prospect in the Cape Cod League this summer and Alec Bohm was ranked #7.

If you look at that list normally (Shockers or not), one would assume those guys are on Top 10 teams. And to have 2 of the Top 10, what would you assume then? Here's hoping....
