That's about all I could find with a quick search. I know most of the pithers were going to stay in Wichita for the summer or take the summer off.

Josh DeBacker was a late add for the Lima Locos of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.

          He's at .333 (3 for 9) with 4 RBIs in 3 games.

That really doesn't sound too good. Only 10 are working to improve after that season?!?

Only 10 are playing summer ball. They had announced at the end of the season that most of the pitchers would be staying in Wichita to work with Coach Steele on both conditioning and mechanics. There are 3 pitchers on this list of 10 playing summer ball.

Not sure that one can say that electing not to play summer ball is the same thing as not working to improve in the off-season. And who know maybe some guys needed a break from the grind to recharge mentally. I guess we will see how this approach impacts the team, if any, next spring. Personally, I doubt that we will see much difference but they obviously need to try something different.

@Wuzee: thanks for running down and posting the stat links for the guys playing this summer. I wonder if somone at WSU saw this thread and were shamed into publishing the list. Maybe they didnt' want fans to see that only 10 players were playing summer ball because they feared reactions along the lines that @rrshock: had.

Could be. They post the list every year, but usually in early June. Then again, maybe somebody in the PR office forgot to compile it. There's a little work going on for the AAC jump, I'd imagine.

I took a quick look around.

OU is sending 15 to summer ball.
SWMO is sending 17 to summer ball
KU is sending 20 to summer ball
KSU is sending 10 to summer ball

No information (that I could find) on OSU or DBU.

With WSU keeping their pitcher in Wichita over the summer this might not be as much of an outlier as it initially looks.

So based on this, I would say there are probably only 3-4 of these 10 players we might see at the NBC World Series.

I think we can expect to see Ritter and Santa Barbara there, and I'd be surprised if we didn't see Cheney and their 2 WSU players there.

I think the Mile High League and the Great Lakes League are both NBC Affiliated leagues, but I don't think either one of them send a team to Wichita.

Definitely won't see the Cape Cod teams, and I'm pretty sure that the other leagues mentioned aren't NBC affiliated either, so that seems to leave Ritter, Young, and Allen as the only possibilities of Shocker players we might see at the NBC. That sound about right?

Alec has cooled off a bit. He average has fallen to 0.424 now after 17 games. However, he is up to 3 home runs and 12 RBI so I think we can live with that decline in batting average.
