Is he not able to recognize a good pitcher? I can't remember WSU ever going this long without a true ace. The kind of guy that can shut anyone down when they are on their game. Zach Lewis got close to that the last half of his senior year, but I am talking about guys as Fr, RS-Fr, or So.
Edit: One other sobering fact. Four of our pitchers are graduating. These four pitchers accounted for 155 IP, or 30% of total IP. That includes 3 of the top 4 ERAs on the staff which accounted for 127 innings of ERA < 4.00. That means we only return one pitcher with a season ERA under 4.00 (32.2 IP). We return 3 pitchers with an ERA > 6.00 and another 2 greater > 9.00.
