One guy - 4-0 and a 0.60 ERA. Everyone else's ERA - Rosie O'Donnells weight.
Doesn't sound like a tough decision when it comes to choosing a reliever. 8)
I think Tyler Fleming and Logan Hoch will still prove to be reliable most of the time.
Having to go without Cameron Maldonado has really had a domino effect that has put some stress on our bullpen.
Another guy that we need to see step us is Matt Smith. Hoperfully, he gets comfortable with the new arm angle and it is effective.
Grant Muncrief is also capable, although pretty inexperienced.
Wouldn't hurt to tigthten up the defense also. Today was perhaps our poorest defensive game of the year.

Agree 100%.
They have to get someone else on the right track and based on the upcoming schedule, it needs to happen sooner than later. Fleming actually shows the most promise and hopefully last night was just a bump in the road.
There is no substitute for experience and Nanney is illustrating the difference between a thrower and a pitcher. He really understands the difference and doesn't try to do things he isn't capable. 8)Above all, make the right call.

Also, with Kohl Nanney he replaced his 4-seam fastball whcih he admits was straight as an arrow with a 2-seamer that apparently gives him much better movement and sink and he is getting a lot more ground balls then he used to (whiich came in very handy in the 7th inning today).
As you say, hopefully, some of the other guys will figure out how they best can get batters out in the near future.

I want to know what is up with our defense all the sudden. Early in the season they were being lauded as possibly the best defensive shocker team ever. Now mistakes are being made darn near every game, even if they aren't scored as errors.
Even TWeb had an error today!
I thought it was bad when we gave up a lead off error to KU. Today we gave up back to back lead off errors.
I'm going to go ahead and call out C.G.
He blows a double play, calls TWeb off a foul ball and then lets it drop. The 5 runs Mo State scored in the 7th belong to him.

But hey, Shox hitting came through today. Shox just need to win tomorrow to finish a good week.

Our defense: not only did we make FOUR errors today, but Conor let a foul pop-up drop right in front of him. The batter then singled. Kenny Williams let a ball get past him in left, allowing the batter to take an extra base.
It's nice to come away with a win on a day we gave away so many outs, but that crap has to stop.

Whoever said that Shafer was mediocre today was totally wrong. Shafer was great today and it was the first time since before he strained his back last year that he looked himself. He had his velocity back up and he was sharp from the get go. He just didnt have any defense behind him and he got run up on hits given up and earned runs due to that awful defense. Whoever was determining what was an error and what wasnt was trying not to mar the shocks because we had way more than we got credit for. Shafer was "on" today and anyone that was at the park knows that. In fact when Gene came out to pull him he was very steamed and got after gene as he walked out. I understand gene wanted the left on left matchup with hoch and their big dog but he should have left Shafer. In the end it didnt matter as we got after it and run ruled them. But I thought Shafer was dynamite today and got screwed by his own defense.

Is anyone concerned about AS now? We can't expect our offense to keep bailing out him as well as our relief pitching practically every game can we? When tourney time comes around, our offense is going to be shut down more than ususal due to the type of pitching they'll face, we need these guys to figure out what's wrong or get that light bulb to come on.

Dude shafer was lights out today. Look Missouri State can flat hit it around the park. If he had any form of defense behind him today I can assure you that everyone would feel fine about Shafer the way he threw it today. Again I doubt that whoever said Shafer was mediocre or average or whatever it was to that effect earlier in this thread more than likely was not at the game. Shafer was excellent!!!

Whoever said he was mediocre was dead wrong. For some reason, and you would have to agree, he is not pitching like he had the past two years. He's even mentioned in the papers that he is off. I'm just hoping the Shafer of old comes back and soon.
At 80 percent or so, he's still better than 90 percent of the pitchers out there in the MVC.
Defense has been suffering pretty awful of late and it started with some bad games with NDSU, what's up with that?

Aaron gave up some hits today, but he also struck out 9 and walked just 1. His velocity was good. He was living at 89 and touched 91 and 92 occasionally.
That said, it seems like every outing has been "blue collar." I don't remember a single outing this year where he had all his pitches working.
I'm not so sure it's fair to say our offense has been bailing him out. His ERA is 2.98.
Our relief pitching is a bit scary. Nobody has been good every time out.
