This may have been a good week for the long-term future of the baseball program.

Apathy probably worse than anger or embarrassment. Maybe I'm just missing it but I don't even seen a mention of the Sacramento State game in today's Eagle.

What kind of crowd was at the game last night? Anyone know (not paid attendance, but people in attendance)?

At this point I think the Lady Shocks softball team may be putting more butts in the seats on average than the baseball team is. Not as much "paid" attendance but perhaps as many actual fans in the stadium watching the game.

You'll have a great chance to win in Omaha this year. (At Creighton, that is, not CWS!) Creighton baseball has fallen off the map since joining Big East. Currently 265 in RPI though we did win a road game against the Jayhawks yesterday. Creighton sacrificed baseball on the altar of elevating basketball. But great for you, Wichita wouldn't be doing that with the AAC.

I got home late and fired up ESPN3; I would estimate about 50 people were in the seats at 8:30 pm. Sad, very sad. We've had more people attend a game in a blizzard.

I got home late as well and was simply too disinterested to fire up ESPN3.

I opened this thread and got excited to see the word 'fired.'

You guys are messing with me.

Or maybe you're not? Is this more secret messaging?

One reason I was wondering is because Shane in his wrap up on the radio broadcast as I was driving home reported attendance of 1,738 and then commented "well at least 1,738 people paid to see the game" without further expansion. The way he said it led me to believe that actual attendance may not have be great.

                    Apparently, yes.

                    It's better than this nightmare.

Totally understandable. Actually sounds like the way to go.

Butler will be back for the 2018 season and you can take that to the bank. He will be reassigned halfway through the season and fired once it's over. A nationwide coaching search will commence to help kick off a new era of Shox baseball in the AAC. I hope the new coach rips off all the Valley champs, NCAA tournament and College World Series years off the stadium press box. Leave the 89 Championship numbers though to remind guys what is possible here. The glory days are long gone and so is that era, time to start a new one. Rename the renovated stadium complex after Gene to give him his due, it's time to bury the hatchet there and move on. Let Gene throw out the first pitch for the 2019 season in a renovated/expanded stadium and let's move onto our new identity and forget that the Butler years ever happened.

I am flat sick of losing and don't even listen to games anymore. There is no fight or chip on the shoulder of this program, just shitty baseball. I don't blame the team, we have some talented guys who know doubt bust their ass daily to get better. It's just hard when you like your coach and he is a good solid family oriented man, runs a clean program, is good at evaluating talent, yet can't coach his way out of a paper bag.
