It was a bit frustrating to watch. I noticed Sara (Lungren) sitting in section E with another VB player?? Leading 10-3 after 7 and winning 10-8 is rather frustrating. We need a closer!!

I think the guy your talking about beats a chairback and not a drum... But you could be talking about someone else.

I don't know what he's beating, but he has no rythym or purpose except I guess to annoy those around him.

Looks like KC is 0-1 in his bet against haysdb.. :yahoo:

Our offense wasn't spectacular (we got some gifts) but scoring 10 runs in a midweek game against these guys is definitely a plus, considering the past history.

Our relief pitching is starting to scare me. Does anybody wanna jump in and step up? I have a feeling down the road that may be our downfall. My God, that was hard to watch in the 8th inning..

Let's hope the streak continues against MSU. We need at least 2 out of 3 (I'm not gonna get greedy). 25-3 would look awesome by week's end. 22-4 is tolerable.

Oh, and about the guy with the drumming. At least he's trying to bring some kind of atmosphere to the game. Our crowd was dead until our 5 run 7th. And it was so nice watching everyone leave after that inning.. But it was a touch chilly for some, so I guess I can understand..

Bet? I prefer the term 'contest' between Hays and I. Like he said, there is no real loser here, either way, the Shox will benefit. Although I may cherish the time when I get to say I told you so. :D

With the win tonight our RPI went from 42 to 27. Our SOS is still in the 160's however.

sara comes to quite a few games

and casey walkup (or his evil twin) was quite the chatty Cathy with her.

ps casey walkup has a cool sportscaster name.

Years like 2007 can spoil fans very quickly. Our pen was deep and nails last season and while this year, so far, hasn't performed on nearly that level, I am still pleased with the quality we can roll out any time we really want to.

Tyler Fleming is a stud and has proved it all year. Kohl Nanney has a 0.69 ERA and I still believe in Dusty Coleman. Logan Hoch has also been more than serviceable. The only real troublesome spot has been Andy Womack. Everyone certainly expected better results so far, based on last season, and Andy has struggled. If he can return to form, the pen is going to be strong and deep yet again.

Maybe not 2007-Booth-Krol-Touchatt-Womack strong......but pretty damned good nonetheless.

Games pitched like this one drive me crazy. I commented to the guy that sits by me about how when they keep reaching into the barrel, every now and then they pull out a bad one. Wed. night it was Muncrief. OTOH, Fleming, Hoch, and Nanney have been good. BTW, I think Hoch has had only 1 or 2 shaky games, otherwise he's been great and his 18 K and 3 BB in 15 innings is pretty sick (actually better than Fleming). I just don't think they use Fleming enough - if a starter can throw 100 pitches per week, why can't a reliever? He should be getting in 2 or 3 appearances per week and 7 or 8 innings, IMO.

Wed. night chances are that after the Shox took the 10-3 lead it was viewed as a chance for some guys to "get some work". Unfortunately, they weren't very effective and made the game close in the end.

I'm hoping that when the important games are on the line that Hoch, Nanney, and Fleming are the go-to guys. We do need Womack in that mix so hopefully he'll find it again. Also, Matt Smith has had a few effective innings lately, and he'd be a good one, too - that dude can bring the heat!

The worse thing about using Coleman as a reliever/closer is that you take the best fielder on the team away from the most important defensive position on the field. Also, in cases where he has to return to SS, you lose the DH.

The idiot with the "drum" is actually beating the underside of his box seat with a little kids baseball bat. We have tried to get the noise stopped by security. They said last night they won't stop it until they get more compaints. We call him "egg head". He sits in section 4 row 4 or row 5. His sidekick never shuts up yelling stupid sometime fowl things to everyone on the diamond. He is the guy who constantly rattles a cow bell. As somone who sits close to them we could use your HELP raising a concern with security or the Jim Schaus. These two guys aren't true shocker fans they are idiots who think they should be the "show" not the baseball game.

After last night listening to egghead beating the seat, does anybody have a bottle of Advil for my splitting headache?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is...but annoying all the paying customers around you probably shouldn't be.

I sit on the outfield hill, so I don't hear him, but if he's as bad as the whistle guy who sits by me at the basketball games, I feel your pain.

I think Sara is a great representative of WSU and I'm glad she comes to games. I have seen her at other games in different locations; she happened to sit in the section next to mine and I noted that she was there in my post. I love our volleyball team and our great coaching staff.

The eighth inning, on the other hand, might have driven me to drink if it had gone on any longer.

I have mixed feeling about the "drum" guy. I don't sit near him and he doesn't really bother me. It is also nice to have some noise when the crowd is quiet. On the other hand, I would not like him to bother other fans. If the crowd was loud all the time, would we even be able to hear him? If not, then maybe the problem is the rest of the fans who are too quiet. (I'm thinking of the noise in the regional last year.)
