BTW, what would you need a Calculator Caddy for? I guess if a school is providing students with a multi-function programmable Calculator like an HP-12c Financial Calculator to use in a class and don't want them taking them home and breaking them or losing them.

In any case, I like the idea of players checking their cell phones at the door.

Can you believe in a few months we will already have played 25 games? One month from now we will have played 6 games. It just seems very early. Anyway, you're right, we will know a lot more in few months. I'm not saying you are wrong, I was just in your place last year so needless to say I am going to wait to get excited until I see the results.

Hate to say it, but a lot of good will has been burned up. We have gone backwards now for the last 3 years, it is hard to believe that will change. Here is to hoping though! When Shockfan89 is no longer pumping sunshine, you know the program is in dire straights. They don't make a better fan then him.

Not sure why @Onegreatracer: needs to take any lumps. If the Shockers suck (again) it won't be because of anything @Onegreatracer: will have done. He will simply have been misguided in his optimism. However, the program will have much bigger problems that will need to be dealt with.

Several times it has been reiterated by him to "wait and see in a few months" along with 48-12 record predictions. That's straight up looney bin stuff. Now, do I hope that I'm the one taking lumps when the time comes? Absolutely. I think so would a lot of people too. But if not, I would think some pills would need to be swallowed for some completely off-the-wall predictions. That's how people learn. It's not like any of his stuff is in the same ballpark either.

And I have to admit to being misguided at times. I honestly thought we would finish 1st or 2nd last year. And I meant from the top of the standings, not the bottom.

If this team has made vast improvements pitching and fielding and we don't have a sophomore slump hitting, we could do much better than last year. I think the shock with Onegreatracer's prediction is going from 21-37 to 48-12 is a HUGE turnaround. We will have mostly the same guys from last year's team (we do have 10 Fr, but I don't recall hearing that any are superstar status). Not saying it can't be done, it's just the chances of it being done are pretty slim.

I think Mike Steele will obtain celebrity status in Wichita if we get anywhere close to 48 wins!

Has anyone seen a final roster? Goshockers.com still shows 38. IIRC the roster on goshockers.com doesn't get updated even when the roster is finalized.

The Shockers picked 4th (tied with Indiana State) behind DBU, SIU and MSU in the preaseason Valley poll. Clearly those voters don't share the optimism of @Onegreatracer:. Good to have some optimism on this board even if it seems it may be in deep, deep left center field.

IIRC I think you have until the day before your season starts to finalize your 35-man roster. That would be on February 16th. But as you point out we may never actually see a final roster published anywhere.

I guess we can take the roster on goShockers.com and check off the players that are suited up and figure it out at some point.

I think we will also. Hopefully, Alec Bohm can build on his outstanding summer in the CPL. Still, IMO the key for the Shockers even tempting to reach your lofty expecations is what PCMS can do with the pitching staff.

I wasn't at all surprised to see Alex Bohm on the preseason All-MVC Team but I was a bit to see Luke Ritter on that team. I don't recall did Luke have a good summer or did they just need a utility player on the team and he was the best available? Hopefully, both guys fulfill those preseason accolades.
