College baseball has changed a ton in the past 8 years. And almost every change was not advantageous for WSU. It shows you how far in front of the curve Gene was.

And all of the comments about the past three years with this new staff, is the hard transition phase that should have been done when the college baseball landscape switched.

Why doesn't anyone in here pop in and ask Todd or go see coach Steele? They are very approachable.

But then what would people have to complain about? It's easy to sit on the outside and point out problems and come up with their solution. Only problem is, they don't have to put in the work to be part of the solution.

I largely agree with your assessment of where we are and how we got here. But, A. I don't think anyone is complaining about the coaching staff's lack of communication. Its more the lack of wins that has gotten everyone down. And, B. Sitting on the sidelines, pointing out problems and coming up with solutions is pretty much the definition of being a fan, especially during tough times. One of the assets this program has that most in the country really don't, and that they're in danger of losing, is people who care enough to sit on the sideline and complain.

Yep, gotta win games. Comes with the territory when you draw a salary in the top quintile of D1 coaches, and the highest in the conference.

Okay - unpopular opinion, but after watching some practices and the fall World Series, I think we put pitching together and get under 5 runs per game and the offense isn't bad enough to drag that down. 45-20, we get to a super.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

I don't think there would be anything unpopular about going 45-20 and reaching a super.

I think most of us find that unlikely, but I'm sure we'd all like to watch it.

Hard to imagine that kind of record with the schedule we have this year. We could do significantly worse thatn that in the win column with our schedule. If we went 33 -23 in the regualar season, win the Valley Tournament and go 2-2 in a regional I think most fans would find that acceptable. At least I would.

33 win seasons and a .590 win% while in the Valley is not acceptable to me.

Being good enough for an at-large should be the standard in lieu of total wins since a fluff schedule with 35-40 Ws can net you an RPI in the 75-100 range with no hope of the postseason, whereas 30-35 Ws with the right slate can put you in contention for a bid.

Understandable. However, if we go 33-23 in the regular season, win the Valley Tournament and go 2-2 in a regional the you will probably be doubly disappointed becauase I am pretty sure that would be good enough to buy HCTB another year. But maybe not. I guess we will just have to see how things pan out.

I think we could easily go 33-23 and a little better is not totally out of the question. Not at all confident that the Shocks could win the Valley Tournament and 2 games in a regional though.

I think after the athletic department buys out the WBB coach - there will be no money available for buyout for baseball unless the program craters.

                        perhaps it was "for cause"

I'd be super duper shocked if Jody got anything close to the buyout contemplated in her contract.

I think the program has cratered. Whether we have hit bottom or the volcano is still active is uncertain at this point. How big does the crater have to be before it engulfs the Coach. That is the question.

Honestly, the Valley isn't a terrible baseball conference. It's certainly better in baseball than in basketball. Now, WSU's tankjob hasn't helped things.

Should we dominate it though? Absolutely. Our baseball budget puts everybody else's to shame. It's embarrassing that it's not.

                                ... No really, deuces.
