A&M folks love their baseball too. Zero doubt about it.

And I hope people were watching those weirdos at A&M in their Super Regional with TCU. They bring all sorts of bizarre traditions and pageantry.

It's cool that the Big XII got three teams in and all. I am sure there will be a lot of those fans in Omaha but it's not nearly as much fun with only Florida from the SEC going. I just hope somebody beats Miami. That was a total disgrace to college athletics with that HR celebration against BC.

I think fans of SEC schools are just fans of the school and will support anything that's fun and winning (and there is nothing more fun than winning). At Arkansas we don't get many for softball since we're just terrible, but we get gobs for track events.

There's probably a few on this board that really love Shocker baseball especially, but I'm guessing that the vast majority that have gone to games at the Eck the last few years would say they prefer basketball.
I have always been a SHOCKER baseball first person but I have to admit that the Butler era may be changing that.:numbness:

Like the Cohen era in basketball?

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I started going to Shocker baseball games in 1978, the year Gene restarted the program. That was long before Mike Cohen. Although I am sure Gene's success and Cohen's failures probably helped fuel the growth of Shocker baseball in the 90s.

I didn't even know who was in the CWS until I looked it up in conjunction with this thread, so I don't care one way or the other.

But Coastal Carolina is certainly an interesting entry. I remember them being good in baseball a number of times, and they've even played WSU twice (the Shocks are 2-0 according to the media guide). Plus, how can you not like someone who knocked out LSU? What's even more interesting, though, is that their football coach is the zillionaire former CEO of brokerage firm TD Ameritrade (namesake of the CWS stadium in Omaha) and I believe still the TD Ameritrade board chairman. He started post-college life as a football coach, needed to make more money to support his family, and then when he succeeded beyond imagination went back to doing what he really loved. Quite a story.

SMU wins the College World Series!
                What a game!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Long Beach with a walkoff homer to beat Drexel in 10!

First time since 2007 that an SEC team won't make it to the CWS Championship series. I would consider that pretty good evidence that the SEC's struggles this year are mostly a fluke.

If I was a Missouri State fan, I probably wouldn't get too wrapped up in the logic that all things that only happen every 9 years are a fluke.

7 teams who had basically locked up a 1 way ticket to Omaha and they have not even 1 CWS win to show for it?

You can call it a fluke. I call it a massive FAIL.

Oregon State vs. Longwood in the night game this evening. It will be interesting to see if Longwood can finally put it to the Beavers.

LOL. Such a match up would no doubt be a twitter favorite if it was ever to actually happen.
