Not expecting him to be fired in the middle of the season in any case. Obviously you would feel better about the direction of the team if such an improbable thing happened but that is way too small of a sample size to be useful evaluating HCTB's performance and it doesn't take away any of the underperformance we have already experienced this year. That would certainly be a change in the trendline. Whether or not something like that could be sustained would remain an open question. If the Shocks make a reasonably strong run through the remainder of this season, win the Valley Tournament and play in a regional then obviously the equation changes. However, at this point I simply don't believe we have the pitching to get something like that done, especially in a Tournament format.

I was just happy to see them beat a team (SFA) that they probably should beat more often than not. Our weekend starters against TCU's weekend starters does not seem like a good matchup for the Shocks. Maybe (and maybe not) Willie Schwanke can keep us in the 1st game of the series. After that it gets pretty dicey. It will be interesting to see what they do with Connor Lungwitz this weekend.

One thing I can pretty much guarantee we won't see any more of are 9-hit, 7-run, 2-out rallies.

      Not by WSU, anyway.

At least the Shocks no longer have the worst record in the Valley. At 9-16 they have edged ahead of 7-17 Illinois State. Unfortunately, they are still 4 games behind the next team in front of them (Evansville).

That may not last too long considering the Shocks play TCU this weekend and Illinois State plays 8-16 Xavier.

When I have watched the shox they have been a team that looked like they were on the edge of breaking out and looked like they had talent. I caveat that with haven't seen them when they have really sucked, which has been to often. If whatever is going on behind the door ever gets cleaned up maybe there is hope, but until everybody is bought in 100% and working together then I suppose it will be more of the same....glimmers of hope with stretches of frustration.

The Lady Shockers softball team darn near matched the Shocker baseball team's big 9 consecutive hit, 7 run inning with an almost equally impressive inning tonight in their home game against Tulsa. The Shocks led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the 5th. 6 consecutive hits (including 2 home runs) and 6 runs later the game was over due to the run rule. BTW, Tulsa came into the game with a 23-6 record and a 1.81 ERA so they are a decent team.

I am not sure what the Shockers had on the training table today but whatever it was keep it coming on game days.
