Without a doubt. Is it really that hard for Butler to understand the benefit of a difficult schedule. Quite simply, you have to beat the best to be the best.

If you don't want to be the best. Leave. Now.

Marshall gets it. We really can't have a discussion about Marshall in the same breath as Butler. Ever.

This...you have to play the best to be the best.

      • The light at the end of the tunnel in all this is that Boatright indicated that there still isn't lots of interest in bringing football back.. As long as we aren't dumping piles of money into football, there's always the chance WSU will try to breath life back into baseball.

Great team other than that POS Christensen was on it. He did about as much to **** on this program as anyone.

In a game against Evansville he intentionally hit the lead off batter in the head with a warm up pitch while the guy was still on deck.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

This is actually a lie by the media to hype a story that didn't need hyping. Molina was no where near a on-deck circle. It was made even worse was there was no adult supervision (Schuas had not been hired just yet) and Gene and Kemnitz came out trying to defend Christenson and said some really stupid stuff that was like lobbing softball to the media. This 1 event cost WSU a trip to CWS in '99 and started the demise of the program.

Whether the idea was Christensen's or not, he still threw at him.

I understand that Molina was not in the on deck circle. You still don't throw at a guys head in that situation, you ask the umpire to make him get back in the circle where he's supposed to be.

So are you implying that this event was more of a hex that was placed on WSU baseball after the fact or that it overall affected recruiting? Cause it seems to be one of those things that's buried and rarely gets dug up by the media..

When you are a college pitcher, you do what the pitching coach tells you to do.

Ah the old "I was just following orders" dodge. I think some Germans tried that defense at Nuremburg. How did that work out for them?

I don't care what the pitching coach may or may not have told him to do, Christensen is still responsible for his actions.
