By my count, excluding the 3 juniors who signed pro contracts, HCTB has cut the "potential" roster from 48 to 37.
The 11 players moving on include:
LHP Jeb Bargfeldt So.
RHP Taylor Goshen So.
LHP Bradley Kinsey So.
RHP Matt Whalen R-Fr.
LHP/1B - Alex Van Pelt R-Fr.
C Brandon Kimbrel R-Sr.
OF - Tanner Dearman Sr.
OF - Michael Burns R-So.
IF - Adam Theis R-Fr.
IF - Jordan Farris Sr.
IF - Lenni Kunnert Fr.
Clearly Jeb Bargfeldt was the key loss and perhaps somewhat unexpected.
In any case, I wish all of these young men well.
Of the 37 players now expected to vie for the 35 roster spots the class breakdown is as follows:
8 Seniors (including 4 redshirt seniors)
5 Juniors (including 3 new Juco transfers)
8 Sophomores (including 2 redshirt sophomores)
16 Freshmen (including 4 redshirt freshmen)

Roster
72, a number of months ago you & I agreed on the no of recruits 2015 recruits if I recall correctly. The number was at 16 then. Since then, Lenni Kunnert decided not to attend, & there must have been someone else who dropped by the wayside as well. Anyway, what I have now is there are 14, 2015 recruits due here shortly. You listed Kunnert as "moving on", but in my view, he has never arrived. It's nit picking, so please bear with me.
Also, 2 players who are on the roster last year who finished their eligibility as seniors were Ray Ashford & Bob Arens. In the past week or so, someone noted another recruit, Josh Whistler, who played at Fort Scott CC. From what I can tell, his stats suggest he may be a DH prospect. The upshot of all this is that I agree with you on the no of sophs, juniors & seniors on the roster, but I don't agree on the number of frosh. I do agree there are 4 RS frosh, but I have the total number of frosh including them at 14. That then brings the total number on the roster at 35 which we know to be the NCAA limit. We will have the answer in the next few weeks when everyone arrives and the baseball program posts their names on Go Shockers.com.

@xazshox: we had a recruiting class of 16. 3 Jucos (not counting Josh Whisler) and 13 freshmen. Lenni Kunert withdrew his verbal commitment to walk-on as he found a scholarship opportunity to his liking at Northwestern State in his home state of Louisiana.
So taking Kunert out of the equation leaves 12 incoming freshmen plus the 4 redshirt freshmen currently listed on the roster for a total of 16 freshmen.
I did not include Josh Whisler in my count nor has @shock10: included him on his initial list as updated. Not sure I have seen anything "official" on Whisler other than his tweet although I could easily have missed that. Could be he is simply planning on trying out as a walk-on.
At this point I have the following 37 guys still potentially in the mix:
4 Redshirt Seniors - Hayes, Mucha, Reding and Williams
4 Seniors - Ferrendelli, Kirk, Rader and Tinkham
1 Redshirt Junior - Schwanke
4 Juniors - Biechler, Gibson, Lewis and Seiwald
2 Redshirt Sophomores - Tewes and Tyler
6 Sophomores - Eaton, Jones, Sanborn, Sangorski, Troutwine, and Vickers
4 Redshirt Freshmen - Boyer, DeBacker, Fehr and Young
12 Freshmen - Bohm, Constantine, Croft, Dugas, Evans, Heuer, Jenista, Kilgore, Lungwitz, McGinness, Richards and Ritter
I could easily have missed an announcement that one or more of these players will not be at Wichita State. If so, I would appreciate being brought up to date. In any, case without Josh Whisler I have 37 players that will be here in the fall. If Whisler does, in fact, show up we would have 38 going into the fall. That is really not that unusual. We have had that and more during Gene's tenure. I believe you have until the day before your 1st game next Spring to finalize your 35-player roster.
This list is consistent with the updated list assembled and updated by @shock10: in the first post of this thread.

“We’re about to get down to six to eight signees,” Butler said. “After two years of hard recruiting, now our recruiting classes will be small and, hopefully, consistent to where it’s six to eight signees each season.”

72, thx for the very complete review of the roster. It's pretty hard to keep track of which class each player is in! For example, Chase Williams is listed as a RS Sr, but that will only be the 3rd year he has pitched college ball. The roster on Go Shockers.com shows that he was a RS at E OK CC in 2013. As for Josh Whistler, I tend to agree that he is probably going to walk on. I recently emailed Paul Suellentrop for clarification and he has never commented on him since then. But, prior that, I also asked him about the verbal commitments announced for the 2016 class. There have been 8 different players discussed on Shockernet, but Sully has only written about 5 of them. He told me that he doesn't comment on walk-ons until they show up here & show that they can produce.

As far as the over recruiting aspect, wasn't that part of the process that had changed and HCGS was unwilling to accept. I always thought it was great that WSU could not subscribe to the way others did this but I think ultimately it hurt GS when he started to miss on some of his recruits. This is just my view and I can't say one method is better than the other but with so few scholarships available for such a large roster it looks like you have to be pretty creative in the way you recruit. Thanks to all of you guys above for the analysis and discussion on the upcoming class/team make up. 72 as always a great source on all things not basketball.

Freshman RHP Connor Lungwitz from Maize will miss fall ball has he has under minor shoulder surgery on his shoulder to clean up some tissue. He expects to begin throwing in 4 to 6 weeks. Hopefully, the description of the procedure as minor proves to be the case.
Good luck with your rehab Connor.

Coach Todd Butler said 39 players reported and injuries will keep two out of fall practices. Freshman pitcher Connor Lungwitz is recovering from shoulder surgery and is scheduled to return to throwing in late September or early October. Freshman infielder Clay Richards underwent surgery on his right knee to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in late spring. He is expected to resume activity in November, Butler said.
The Shockers will run a mile on Sept. 4, needing to finish in under 6 minutes, 30 seconds. The Halloween scrimmage is Oct. 28.

goShockers.com shows 40 players on the 2015-16 roster at this point.
In addition to the 37 players currently listed by @shock10 the roster includes:
C Josh Whisler RJr. (Eastern Oklahome/Fort Scott CC)
RHP Brian Greisman RJr (Murray State CC - OK)
RHP Landon Holifield Sr (Fprt Scott CC/Abilene Christian)
All 3 players are mostly likely trying to earn a roster spot as walk-ons.
However, since 39 players reported for fall ball per Paul Suellentrop (see previous post) someone out of this group of 40 players may have already moved on.

.Wichita State sophomore outfielder Keenan Eaton won the baseball team’s mile run on Friday at Cessna Stadium with a time of 5 minutes, 31 seconds.
After playing at around 220 pounds as a freshman, Eaton came to WSU this fall weighing 199 pounds. Coach Todd Butler is happy with the new look. “He made a big commitment about halfway thorugh the (summer) to lose some weight and get more athletic,” Butler said. “He’s a much better player with the weight he’s holding. Now he looks like an outfielder that can play left, center or right.”
Eaton, from Parker, Colo., played in 23 games as a freshman, starting 12. He hit. 289 with three doubles.
Butler said 34 of the 38 players made the time in under 6:30. Those who didn’t will run again on Friday.
