Pretty impressive to require (practically) an entire baseball squad to hit that mark, really.

FWIW, I don't think that's a new requirement with the baseball program despite the change in regime.

Cool. That's an interesting "requirement" for a college baseball program, IMHO.

My high school basketball coach had a similar requirement, but it was based on position. If I recall correctly, 4s an 5s had to run it in 7, while 1-3s had the 6:30 time. He wouldn't let you practice until you made the time. I guess it made more sense in basketball due to the increased cardio required.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense to me.

            • Maybe they should have a required time for running 360 ft. With three 90-degree left turns.

Does anyone know a place that would work well for such a test?

In addition to the 37 players currently listed by @shock10 the roster includes:

C Josh Whisler RJr. (Eastern Oklahome/Fort Scott CC)
RHP Brian Greisman RJr (Murray State CC - OK)
RHP Landon Holifield Sr (Fprt Scott CC/Abilene Christian)

All 3 players are mostly likely trying to earn a roster spot as walk-ons.

However, since 39 players reported for fall ball per Paul Suellentrop (see previous post) someone out of this group of 40 players may have already moved on.
Clay Richards is not on the roster.

                • Sully writes that Tewes and Schwanke are healthy and pitching without limitations this fall. Good notes on the battle for starting spots in the OF as well.

It goes without saying, but Paul is such an excellent beat writer. We are lucky to have him.

That's good news now let's hope they stay healthy.

Also liked hearing that Ryan Tinkham has added 25 pounds (of muscle hopefully). Ryan had great power last year for a long, lean lanky Jones. I am very intrigued to see what he can do with 25 pounds of added beef (hopefully, lean and mean muscle).

Nice mentions about Freshmen Dayton Dugas and Alex Bohm along with Juco transfer Josh Whisler as well.

                    • I saw a post on goshockers.com about fall practice and took a quick glance at the roster. It may seem that I'm obsessed with physical makeup of players, but I'll say it again - we have some very good size. A quick guess of the average height would be 6'2'' or 6'3'' and only one under 6'0'' (Tanner Kirk @ 5'11''). Having a frame like that certainly gives more to work with as far as strength & conditioning.
