  • Rain

So, it's supposed to rain a lot Friday (raining right now), Saturday and Sunday. It's not as if they have 2 or 3 games left to fit in. There is a lot of baseball left to be played. The selection show is 11am Monday. Any idea or precedence for what the NCAA would do if this tournament isn't finished until Monday? If the championship ends up MSU vs DBU, I think they'd be fine. But anyone else in the championship?

The mvc will have to announce to the NCAA who their auto-bid is going to go to. I believe this happened once before in MVC history and they gave it to the regular season winner.

But it would be interesting (assuming WSU is still alive) -- would the MVC ever game the system and say give it to somebody like WSU knowing the other 3 team are likely to get at large? My guess is no, and the selection committee would likely punish the MVC for doing that.

The question is are they planning on starting at 9:04 am today? Or are things going to be pushed back? Would be nice to know as I am soon to be headed that way.

Never mind, got my answer from the MVC facebook and twitter sites. First game pushed back to 9:34 am at the earliest. Could be a long day at the ballpark for those of us that haveall-session passes.

A long day at the ballpark beats any day stuck in the office. Have fun

Especially when you have friends to spend that long day at the ballpark with usually. Now, spending it by yourself, that can get downright boring. Hopefully after the Shox beat Southern Illinois today (whatever time it starts), you'll be able to come out and watch them get revenge on Missouri State (again, whatever time it starts)

Is DOFO concerned about flooding yet?

He said that most of it should be east of the turnpike.
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

I'm probably going to feel like an idiot when I read the answer, but who is DOFO?

DOFO is Shockernet's Nostradamus (with a substantially lower IQ) and board punching bag who constantly declares us in drought status using his own metrics and logic. He became notorious on this board for some of his ridiculously simple or obviously incorrect posts about Shocker Basketball under another name-was it Plane Shocker?- which led to regular posters trying to drive the guy into hiding before someone who mattered laid eyes on one of his masterpieces and lowered the property value of Shockernet by 1000 per cent. Did I miss anything?

I think you covered it pretty well. Thanks. :)

There vwas a time years ago, back when WSU was a national power and Creighton was a frequent NCAA regional team as well (by the way, search on "Jim Audley throw" if you want to relive some early 90's WSU baseball excitement) when several days of chilly rain left the tournament unfinished and the field in bad shape, and the Valley did declare an outcome. But I don't remember exactly when, or what criteria they used -- it may have been regular season results; I just don't recall.

Yes. Indiana State leading DBU 1-0 in the top of the 2nd.

The game started at 10:21 so running an 1 hour and 20 minutes behind schedule. Assuming the rain holds off an this game ends in regulation the Shocks vs SIU should start around 1:50 pm although you wonder if they will try and cut down the normal time between games to make up a little time.

2:21PM start. Not exactly hurrying between games. Doesn't make sense to me, especially with the indoor facility available for the teams to warm up/take infield, etc.
