Shox load the bases with nobody out and follow that up with an infield popup and a strikeout. Then Hilliard flied out. Kihle is a friggin' strikeout machine.

K's
It's interesting that all of the myriad kinds of stats that are kept track of for baseball, that on Go Shockers for baseball, there is not a column for strikeouts. Either that, or even though I have gone through them with a fine tooth comb, I don't see a column for K's or under any other kind of a heading. Btw, I assume that the game is under a rain delay with the Shocks leading 6-2 in the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 outs. 1330 AM radio is not covering the game now.

Great job by the bottom of the order in the bottom of the 8th. Bob Arens walked to lead off the inning but Tanner Dearman failed to bet the Sac Bunt down and struck out. Chase Rader followed with another strike out and Arens was stills standing at 1B with 2 outs. However, Mikel Mucha, Tanner Kirk and Trey Vickers delivered 3 consecutive singles from the 7, 8 and 9 holes to plate a couple of insurance runs.
Shocks lead 10-7 after 8 complete.

John Hayes gets through the 9th after giving up a lead off single with a 9-6 force out at 2B then a more traditional 4-6-3 double play.
Shocks 10 - Evansville 7. Shocks have now won 7 of their last 10.
These last two wins haven't been very pretty but they count all the same.Last edited by 1972Shocker; May 9, 2015, 06:03 PM.

The last two wins haven't been pretty...BUT...the starting pitching in the last 3 has been WAY better, and the offense is there right now. That bullpen though. Just, wow.

The progress these last 3 weeks or so has been nice. For the first two months of the season, our winning percentage was ~.350 and were every bit as bad as our RPI, which was hovering near 200. Over the last ten games, we have played .700 ball against foes whose lowest RPI was 102 (New Mexico). In all but our very best years, that is good baseball. It took much longer to get there than many of us expected, but at least it is happening. I just hope the progress is not a mirage and that we can keep playing well down the stretch.
