Walk off bomb from Mucha wins it in B9, 4-3 Shox! Nice to get the weekend off to a good start.

Anderson's performance was encouraging although he was far from dominant, spreading 10 hits and a walk over 6 and 2/3. Hayes continues to shine and the defense played really well, throwing out a handful of aggressive Aces runners and playing error-free baseball.

Winning this series would be really nice considering the landmines waiting for us next week.

Great time from Mikel to get his 1st home run of the season. He just missed one the other day.

Shocks gave up 12 hits but only allowed the 3 runs. Shows you what you can do when you don't walk the world.

John Hayes has been very good over the last month.

      Good job Shocks.

Very exciting game.I still give us no chance in the tournament but at least Anderson gives a chance to win a game.

Disagree in this particular situation. When you have Pete Incaviglia without the home runs at the plate, who's 3-3 on the day already and has the tying runs out there to pick up, don't even give him a chance -- especially as the first hitter faced by an inconsistent freshman. No one could possibly have been surprised that the score was tied after Kaczmarski's AB. Plus, if you're really that close to bringing in Hayes, just go ahead and do it. But whoever ends up on the mound needs to give Mr. "I'm Hitting .480" four wide ones.

This was like Gene's old bugaboo of waiting just a little too long to make the switch he knew he really needed to make, and then being stuck doing it one batter too late. Brady Toups, wherever he is, still owes him a beer -- or maybe a single malt scotch.

Nice job by the Shocks, (edit: Hayes,) and Mucha to pick up the coaching staff in this one.

Not that it's relevant to the conversation, but I personally hate the intentional walk. To me it's cheap. I understand the strategy involved but I'm of the mindset that if you don't have the guts to pitch to a batter, you shouldn't be playing or coaching. I also understand it's part of the game, at all levels, but it's not baseball to me and I cringe every time I see it.

On the topic of the Shox, good win today. Problem with this team is the inconsistency. I wish one team would show up and stay around. There's no reason they can't put together more multiple game winning streaks. The potential seems to be there, now some consistency. Hopefully they can take tomorrows game and win the series

The thing is that he IS without the HRs and power. Which means while getting a hit was super likely, scoring that runner from first wasn't really. I think this was a pretty clear case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't." And for a coaching staff that has been harping like crazy on not giving up free bases, I think the call made just as much sense as the other.

Feel good for Mucha. Seems like a guy that has always done things the right way but has never quite turned the corner to consistently good.

Also, great job by Anderson and Hayes. That's two straight games with really strong starting pitching performances. Can we make it three? Game two starts now.

Shox go up 1-0 on a Hilliard triple and a Tinkham sac fly.

They essentially intentionally walked Kaczmarski in the first, which led to an inning-ending DBP.

Hilliard with a 1 out triple and Tinkham drives him in with a sac fly. 1-0 good guys, B1.

                          Edit: I am too slow.

Jeb is living dangerously, allowing 5 runners in the first 2 innings. No harm, no foul so far though.

I figured that 2nd inning was going to blow up on him after the ridiculous error. Glad they didn't score.

Shox with a threat in the 2nd.

Agreed, it was nice to not have that backfire for once.
