  • Shocks at Missouri State

The Shocks (18-26, 6-6) travel to Springfield to take on the Valley leading MSU Bears (31-10, 9-3) this weekend with games at 6:35, 2:05 and 1:05 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

    Shocker Game Notes

A quick look at the ERA of the pitching staff tells what a tough task the Shockers have in front of them. MSU has a team ERA of 3.21 to 5.32 for the Shocks.

    Probable Pitching Matchups
    May 1 — Isaac Anderson (RHP, 4-5, 3.81) vs. Jon Harris (RHP, 4-1, 2.43)
    May 2 — Chase Williams (RHP, 1-3, 7.28) vs. Matt Hall (LHP, 6-2, 2.95)
May 3 — TBA vs. Jordan Knutson (LHP, 3-1, 2.91)

The Shocks will have to pitch well above their norm and probably hit above their averages to win this series.

Maybe our newest Angel in the Outfield can work a miracle or two for the Shocks.

Tough series, will be interesting to see if the bats can stay hot against a very good staff. I also liked this bit of trivia from the bottom of the article '72 links above:

The Shockers trailed Oklahoma 6-0 on Tuesday before winning 9-8. It was their first comeback of six or more runs since 2006 when they rallied from an eight-run deficit to defeat Bradley

I did not appreciate the magnitude when I was watching it happen.

1 win this weekend would be enough for me to not be disappointed.

2 wins this weekend would be enough for me to believe this team is making significant progress and start to get me a little excited.

3 wins this weekend would be a fluke and I will go back to being super disappointed and upset with this team.

Did I hear Mike Kennedy on Coach Butler's radio show last Monday say that Jon Harris, MSU's Friday starter, is a potential 1st round draft pick?

                Shox go 1-2-3.

Then give up a leadoff double, followed by an error on a bunt scoring the runner and advancing the bunter to 2nd.

Classic. This series is over before it began.

It's pathetic but it's hard to get excited when a crappy team comes to town.

Tonight didn't go so well, did it? Shocks were simply overmatched tonight I suppose. We won't win very many games scoring only 3 runs with our pitching.

The Box Score shows a temp of 71 with SW winds at 3 mph for last nights game. Attendance was reported at 932.

The Shocks were only outhit 9 to 8 although have of the Shocks hits came in the 9th after the game was out of reach. The Shocks walked 5 and hit a batter compared to 1 walk and a hit batter for MSU. The Shock also made the only error of the game.

For all intents and purposes last night's game was over after 3 innings with the Shocks trailing 5-0 with Harris on the mound for the Bears. Hopefully, we can stay in today's game until much later in the game.

Game2: Missouri State leads 3-1 after 3. Chase Williams has only walked 6 in the first 3 innings.

It appears the Shockers run throwers out to the mound. Missouri State runs pitchers out to the mound.
