When I heard this a couple of years ago I bought up all of the baseball logo stuff I could afford.I don't think they will change the logo in CF at Eck any time soon.

This also recently happened at Arkansas, a move toward consistent branding. However, this year I have noticed that the athletic department has gone back to using our baseball-specific logo on some things. I guess they realized they couldn't erase it completely without great expense, since it's all over the stadium, so they might as well utilize it.

We used to have a fantastic Hog at midcourt:

but it got replaced with the same one that is on our football helmets. :(

I don't know of any "big" schools (i.e., those who market to an audience outside local vendors) that have sport specific logos. It's the price you pay to have LIDS sell your stuff.
This is correct. I worked on a project last year closely related the the marketing department and visual standards group. It's just one step in a multitude of them to brand the University in a consistent way. Another change implemented by President Bardo

I am not in marketing and everyone will probably think for good reason after this post, but branding seems like some term being pushed by a marketing consultant. How about looking at what items sell well and sticking with that? Your customers are telling you what they want/like by what they buy. Listen to them! Of course I understand there are additional costs to produce so many different items, but to me doing something for the purpose of "branding" seems like I, as the consumer, am being told what I should like. Personally I don't like the WU items and so I just don't buy it. Oh well.

                    I like it.

I think sports-specific logos would be fine, as long as they are using the up-to-date WU.

Most of them, including baseball, are still using the last generation one.

Technically the "Flying W" is still only specific to baseball.

If they replace the Baseball Wu in center field at Eck, I hope it stays Wu Shock and doesn't get changed to the Flying W.. The flying w would look good behind home plate and the mound, but not so much center field.
