Baseball Logo No longer Used

Dont know if anyone else has noticed, but the baseball logo is gone
.

You will notice that the team has a new hat this year is all back hat with a simple "W" on it. I was told by someone I wont disclose that the team is no longer allowed to have its own logo. Any new things made will have the logo you see on everything else.

Just another thing that scumbag sexton is doing. Anything he can do to wipe away the legacy of Gene and his players. Thought you all would find this interesting.

P.S. I would like to see him have that logo cut out of the middle of the turf :)

I don't necessarily agree with it, but this isn't just a baseball thing, and it isn't something new. They implemented this a year or two ago, across all the sports, in an effort to brand consistently.

Also, there are a LOT of things that a LOT of people find disappointing, or in need of improvement around the athletic department, but most of those people probably wouldn't approach Sexton's performance from a character/professionalism stand-point. It just takes a lot of the wind out of the sails of any actually valid points.

They may have implemented it, but this is the first year they haven't been allowed to wear the logo. I just don't like when the take away tradition for a few extra pennies.

I don't think this has to do anything with Gene.

I believe there was a story about a "consistent marketing" message where a logos across the board were being aligned and simplified. Give it another 10 years and the marketing people will come back and dust off the old designs and say "unique, sporty specific logos" are the way to go.

I don't think this has anything to do with Gene, let alone trying to erase his legacy. Because despite the bizarre rationale of the Gene fanatics, Gene's legacy IS Wichita State's legacy. The idea they would damage their own legacy just to spite the previous coach is ludicrous to me.

I loved Gene and what he did for the university and the baseball program. I'm not sure they should have gotten rid of Gene. But there is nothing here, in my opinion.

My understanding is that the change(s; look at WuShock himself logo) stem from marketing; manufacturers wanted a consistent logo to print/sew on to a variety of items; they wanted "simple" which led to the redesign. I don't know of any "big" schools (i.e., those who market to an audience outside local vendors) that have sport specific logos. It's the price you pay to have LIDS sell your stuff.

The only one I know of is Long Beach State. They go by "dirtbags" for baseball only.
