  • Shox at Sam Houston State Game 3

Really excited for this afternoon's rubber match- hopefully Schwanke has his plus stuff ready and the defense provides support like it did yesterday. Go get em, Shox!

I haven't followed the games any closer than on twitter so far, but how has the offense and pitching been so far in your thoughts compared to last year?

Pitching seems somewhat improved while I am cautious optimistic that the hitting is coming around. Seems like there are still a lot of called strikes, especially strike 3 calls, which is bothersome. All of this being said, we are only two games in so it's too early to tell.

Ugh. 1st and 2nd, nobody out for the Shox in the 2nd. Strikeout looking, followed by a strike-em-out-throw-em-out to end the inning.

        0-0 B2.

3 hits (2 of them are infield singles), 2 walks and hit batter in the bottom of the 2nd have dinked the Shockers to death.

          3-0 Bearkats, still B2.

edit: another infield single, 4-0 SHSU. Third out comes when the Bearkats get greedy and try to score a second man on the final infield hit.

WSU puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 3rd. K, Sac fly, K ensue.

4-1 SHSU to B3. Frustrating start this afternoon.

Very frustrating game. Sounds like we are a little low in luck this afternoon, and a lot low in execution. Not a good combination.

WSU has walked 12 and struckout 9 in the series.

SHSU has walked 3 and struckout 26 in the series.

                That ain't gonna do.

kind of surprising when I heard this - supposedly Butler recruits "Power" arms, but they sure are not overpowering anybody yet.

I am also a little curious about all the infield hits. Has been a problem for a few years now. Are we that unlucky, or do we just not have the defensive players any more?

Might not make it back to win this one, but some execution over the last few innings would be nice. Try to avoid prolonged funks.

Chance to crawl back in it here in the 7th. 6-2 runner on 2nd no outs.

Make it 6-3 with another double. Getting in the realm of possibility.

We are not a very good running team for a team that is supposedly going to try to run a lot.

Kihle with the golden sombrero. Solid.

Tinkham singles again. Rader up as the tying run. Hopefully we don't strike out or get thrown out on the bases this time.

A bomb here would be so awesome and demoralizing for SHSU. They have kicked our butts pretty thoroughly this afternoon.

Strikeout. Tough to get down on Rader there, facing a big arm and being 5/10 in the series. But we can't strike out this much.
