Chase Williams the 6-6, 225 lb. RHP our to Eastern Oklahoma State who sat out last year after TJ surgery in June 2012 was reported to be hard thrower (92-95), but on the raw and the wild side.

Last season at EOS he struck out 18 in 14.2 innings but he walked 23 and hit 6 batters. That has continued this summer as he has struck out 19 in 16.1 innings but walked 24 (not sure how many he has hit, if any) for the Sanford River Rats in the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Looks like Brent may have a Nuke Laloosh to try to mold. I suppose that explains why Brent has been seen frequenting the women's undergarment sections in department stores this summer. At least I hope that's the reason. :biggrin-new:

Let's see. 14 innings x 3ish batters =42 batters. 6 smacks/42 batters = 14% chance of getting smacked when you step up to the plate. LOL

So far the surprise for me among the Shocks playing summer ball is T.J. Looney who is pitching for the San Diego Force.

He as a 0.82 ERA in 22 innings with 30 strike outs vs 6 walks. Maybe T.J. is final mastering the new delivery and arm slot that Brent tried to implement during the season last year without much success. T.J. had an ERA of 16.43 in 7.2 innings last year for the Shocks. Perhaps he will be able to make a positive contribution next year.

Hard to say exactly what he was referring to but that might indicate he is either still waiting on have his MRI or to get his MRI results.

In other news, Chase Rader left the Derby Twins game last night with a hamstring injury after running out a grounder. Couldn't tell how bad it was. He limped off under his own steam.

A guy who walks 23 and hits six in 14.2 IP isn't facing "3-ish" batters an inning, KW. That's 44 outs plus 29 walked or plunked, not to mention anyone who actually hung in well enough to get a hit against him. So ChaseNuke was probably facing more like six guys an inning. A WHIP of around three will need to be reduced considerably before Brent Pygmalion can consider him a successful project.

No doubt a little higher than 7% as targets as opposed to victims. Those are just the ones unable to Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge quick enough.

Shockwaves Blog: Catching Up With Wichita State Baseball

While there are warning signs that raise concern, coach Todd Butler is cautiously optimistic about sophomore pitcher Sam Tewes’ right elbow. Tewes complained of tingling in his right arm during a game in late June in the Cape Cod League and hasn’t pitched since. “Hopefully, it’s just a small strain,” Butler said. “Hopefully, it’s just going to be rest and recovery and rehab. His arm feels better.” Tewes is shut down for the rest of the summer and will send his MRI to Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., for a second opinion, Butler said.
