Why would we celebrate the 25th anniversary to the National Championship on a Tuesday in KC? My guess is Gene doesn't want to go to Eck or vice versa.

@Shocker:Baseball will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1989 national championship team at Kauffman Stadium before Mizzou game

Mizzou is GS's alma mater. Not sure if that was a consideration, or if he will be in attendance though.

I happened to notice that Missouri won a College World Series title in 1954, which also makes this year a round-number year for them. Maybe that has something to do with it as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Shox play in New Orleans.

Don't know if I'll make it to any others.

Solid schedule- it will be a really good one if we get lucky and that three game series against SIU-E (and their 266 RPI) gets snowed out.

This does seem rather odd. While it would be kinda cool to attend a Shocker game in Kaufman Stadium, how many folks will choose to do so mid-week while school is in session?

This notion I have never understood.

The coaches wouldn't have scheduled this series if they didn't want to play it. Hitting and pitching vs. live OUTSIDE competition prepares the team for the much tougher games on the schedule, particularly the Coastal Carolina tournament.

This team better take this season game-by-game. They are going to have to show vs. the tough opponents on their schedule. RPI notwithstanding, if they don't come away with a bunch of top 100 wins, they will have to win the Valley tournament to make it to the postseason. I'm not going to make any judgements now, the SIU-E series with fans in the stands and the PA on, etc. will give everyone an idea if the attitude has changed around Shocker Baseball.

                    Relax.

It's the same reason we all used to cringe when Chicago State popped up on the hoops schedule annually or when Gene would book a weekend of fun against Howard. Games like those hurt the computer numbers, it's that simple.

The coaches obviously want a cupcake to gain some confidence and that is fine. Note that I said this is a solid schedule as is, and would be a really good one sans those three games. That means removing that series would simply improve an otherwise strong schedule from an SoS perspective.

Am I wrong or are you nitpicking?

Sometimes it just boils down to you have an opening in your schedule, you want to play, you take whose willing and available. If the Shocks take care of business against the strong part of the schedule the SIU-E series won't make much difference. If they don't take care of business against the strong part of their schedule the SIU-E series still won't make much difference.

Maybe Eric is hoping that if they do it that far away that Gene won't show up.

Reading through makes a Tiger fan happy. Glad there is college baseball to enjoy in Kansas.
To all the LSU talk, our OOC sucks and I would welcome y'all coming down. Here's to good seasons for both teams.
