Not Shocker baseball, but baseball none the less.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Hats off to the coach for taking responsibility for the actions of his players.

Isn't an 11:30 curfew pretty darn late? Especially the night before a state title game?

Depends on what time the game is.
Again, kudos to the coach for being a stand-up guy, even if his players weren't.

But what good can come of letting a bunch of testerone laden 17 year olds out after 9:30pm or 10:00pm in the evening, even if they had a night game the next night? Part of setting a curfew around 10:00pm is that they will be stupid enough to try and sneak out about 10:30pm, after the room check, and you can more easily bust their butts.

Agree, he did step up and take the hit for his kids' stupidity. Which is a shame because he must be a decent coach.

I wonder if Shocker recruit Sam Tewes, a 6-5 RHP from Waverly HS was involved? Tewes was drafted in the 22nd round of the MLB draft but said he was committed to pitching for Wichita State. Hopefully, he is off playing high-level travelling ball somewhere.

Tewes was not on the Legion team. Here is the roster: www.legion.org/baseball/teams/102124?s=2013

                  This site reports: https://www.starherald.com/news/loca...9bb2963f4.html

Officers investigating learned that some of the state baseball tournament teams were staying at the hotel. Two men who were present when the mailbox was damaged were identified during the investigation and police recovered evidence of the crime. Adam Jorgensen, 18; Kyle Dabaets, 18, and Jesse Maguire, 18, were arrested on charges of minor in possession and jailed. Maguire had also been charged with destruction of property. All three men had been released from jail by Wednesday morning.
Three players, Dillon Benson, 16; Calvin Yelkin, 17; and Luke Sumovich, 18, were cited on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and released. Whether players were arrested or cited was based on officer discretion, Wasson said.

I just don't understand the behavior of these kids, maybe at 49, I'm just too old. That said, I drank in high school, lots. I guarantee, I drank lots more than the vast majority of posters here. I could mix a perfect Manhattan at 16, And I could get laid making sloe gin fizzes for the girls. I'm neither proud nor ashamed of that, it was high school. I also played sports. With all that, I would have never even considered drinking the night before a championship game. These kids are idiots.
