JT has taken his lumps on Shockernet so let's not turn this into a bash JT thread. The man has spent most of his adult life in a shocker uniform and bleeds yellow and black. He helped tutor numerous All-Americans and was part of some of the very best Shocker Baseball teams we have ever fielded. Lets leave it at that. Does HCTB hire one of his own or keep it in the family?

That would be a good question to be asked by the media at the presser today, so hopefully we'll know where his tendencies lie pretty soon.
Is there anyone in the Shocker family that you'd want as a hitting coach? Standiford is really the only one that would "jump" out there.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

But when you compare the resumes of Hooper and Butler, it's a complete mismatch. It doesn't mean Todd will be better than Hooper would have been. But for those that were critical of the process and what ADES was doing, he made a FANTASTIC decision. Time will judge what happens from here on.
And fwiw, I believe Kevin didn't get much run because he has no college coaching (head or assistant) experience. That's a lot to ask a program to overlook, imho.

I think everyone missed the message that Hooper gave last year and the years before, he said he wants to be a Major League manager, not a college head coach. College is not a stepping stone to the Majors, working your way up through the minors is the way it happens. I think Hooper didn't interview because HE didn't want to. MLB is what he says is his goal.
