      • More later, but the budget was "slashed"? Really. The budget is essentially flat.

Tuition increases have far, far, far outstripped inflation. State support has slightly dropped but overall spending is way up.

How many non-teaching positions have been added? Have the hours taught by instructors gone up or down?

        • From 2002 to 2012 inflation was 25%, state aid decreased -.1% and tuition increased 137% in Kansas.

I'm a lifetime member of the alumni assoc. I bet the above factoid was given to the Board.

Kansas spends a lot on higher Ed compared to other states.

The comments by Regents members about the cuts were a bit over the top. Just as it is with K12, more $$ does not equal better results.

          • I came to this site to read about baseball and the new coach. Take the politics to the politics site where you all can bash anyone that doesn't agree with your viewpoints.

              This
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

In other words - there were not any better jobs out there so they decided to stay put.

                        • I can just envision coach Butler and his family enjoying Shocker basketball games court side next season. Something I never saw Gene Stephenson do.

That's another thing I love about this hire. I have a sense that coach Butler and his family will not only embrace the baseball program, but Wichita State athletics as a whole.

                            • I believe Gene attended quite a few basketball games per year. No, he didn't have a family to sit next to him with, but he was there.

                              ... No really, deuces.

Yeah, I definitely saw Gene at some games. There are some ways to criticize Gene, but please try to be factual when doing so.
