If you can't out recruit the valley, you can't dominate it. It is a vicious circle, no bcs conference= no players, no players= no postseason success, we are now what we are, not what we were. A coaching move won't change the realities of the current situation.

This is exactly the defeatist attitude that led to the Gene staff's demise and to OU 8 years ago. You can't recruit/compete/win if you don't believe you can. Gene of all people knew this 30+ years ago when he set the college baseball world on its ear and made WSU a competitive (or possibly even dominant) program.

I feel with reasonable certainty that the right coach can produce on-field success over the next five years ahead of the previous five years. I also believe that the fans will respond by coming back to Eck Stadium. Unless you're a regular at baseball games, you can't fathom the apathy bordering upon disgust, that the fans were feeling this past season.

Maybe you guys are right, maybe Gene forgot how to coach, maybe Brent forgot how to recruit, maybe they both didn't put out the effort anymore, just laid down and mailed it in.
Maybe recruits weren't impressed with wsu anymore or Genes record of achievment, or for that matter the facilities, or better yet the sparse crowds. I'm sure we'll be back in the cws in no time now that we got rid of the lazy, no-nuthin' bastard. I feel so enlightened now, do you guys have a secret handshake or anything?
