But now we gotta waaaaaaait.
Baseball talk including Hooper or Heefner makes me want to hit up the Eck. Baseball talk including Butler makes me want to painfully file WSU baseball into the "what once was" category.

If it went poorly, everyone needs to get excited for Hooper or Standiford because the non-alum candidates fall off a cliff pretty sharply. Unless someone new has expressed interest in the last day or two.

Cause outside of recruiting top level talent to the top baseball conference I don't see anything to write home about.
Lake Charles, La., where he compiled a 90-83 (.520) overall record in three seasons. In
his last season at McNeese, he guided the Cowboys to the 2003 Southland Conference
Tournament championship, their first in 10 years.
The win at the conference tournament secured just the fourth NCAA Regional
bid in McNeese State’s history and the Cowboys were sent to the Houston Regional at
Rice’s Reckling Park. Butler’s team gave eventual national champion Rice all they could
handle before falling to the Owls, 3-2, in 10 innings. Ole Miss eliminated the Cowboys
from the 64-team field the following day.
Prior to assuming the head coaching duties at McNeese State, Butler served as an assistant coach at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas, in 1992, where he helped the Buccaneers advance to the NJCAA World Series.

That said, his hitters' performance at Arkansas does not excite me. He would need a very capable hitting coach here.
I was jazzed to hire Heefner. I'd be alright with Butler, and I'd also be alright with Hoop or Standiford. None of the three have had a chance to be the head hauncho at a place with our resources, so I think they're all a roll of the dice to a large degree. I think we'll just have to trust ADES and BK's judgment on it because none of them are miles ahead of the others on paper.

Their RPI those three years improved from 135 to 100 to 71 with an automatic bid in his last year. Nothing mindblowing but not bad either considering they're not a powerhouse or anything. Since then he's been one of the nation's most talked about assistants for quite a while and can recruit very well. I don't discount success in the SEC as quickly as others on here because it has also been a talented coaches graveyard recently- it's not easy to win against the best teams in the country.

To me if your going to settle for Butler I would prefer they just go with someone like Hooper or Standiford.

He fits all the criteria & BK knows everybody. Don't be surprised if Hargrove gets a call.
