Who Replaces Gene?

ORU's dugout was being chatty near the end of the game and when our pitcher (Josh 'psycho' Merryman) got a big out to end the inning he said something to Golloway (who was coaching 3rd) and Golloway didn't like it. He tried to get at Merryman and I believe both benches emptied.

Some interesting info from Sully in Shockwaves. Could very well be nothing since the kid's quote directly contradicts what Gene told the team yesterday.

Pitcher Reagan Biechler, from Colorado Springs, talked to a current Shocker, who told him to hang tight and see how things worked out.

“I’ve heard (pitching coach Brent) Kemnitz will probably stay,” Biechler said. “I’m just seeing who comes in and if any of the coaches stay, like Coach Kemnitz. He’s a big reason why I chose Wichita State.”

The possibility of Kemnitz remaining on the staff was not raised on Monday. Kemnitz left the baseball offices and declined comment after meetings. That scenario has been raised for many years by fans and the media. He is popular with former players and could provide a link to past success and help with the transition. If this is a possibility, it would seem an indication that athletic director Eric Sexton is looking at candidates comfortable working with Kemnitz.

Bruce Heartl tossing Kemnitz name around today also, although as his opinion and as a speculation as he states he has no real information:

I would expect former players and those closest to the program to be upset. They have an emotional attachment.

I've been to Disch-Falk Field in Austin, and it's hard for me to imagine that it's #3 on the list and the Eck #16. It's a nice stadium, but so is WSU's, and I certainly wouldn't call the Disch (as our old sports guy Roger Wallace and his fellow Austin sportscasters refer to it) palatial by comparison. As for Pepperdine, pretty much anything on that campus is worth seeing -- what a setting!
