It sounds like the Shox have a chance to run rule them and end it in the 8th. Now leading 18-8.

Standings after today's games (no promises):

        Wichita State 7-2
        Missouri State 6-3
        Creighton 5-4
        Evansville 5-4
        Indiana State 7-5
        Illinois State 3-3
        Southern Illinois 2-7
        Bradley 1-8

WSU has UE, @SIU, @ MSU and CU

Missouri State has BU, @UE, WSU and @CU

Creighton has SIU, @ISUr, @wsu: and MSU

ISUb is sneaky with @ISUr, UE & BU

Not that it really matters, but if WSU is going to entertain any hope of a Valley Title, they better go at least 5-1 the next 2 weekends, and 6-0 is probably needed to offset the likely losses in the last 2 series.

IF they can go 6-0 in the next 2 weekends, then they will definitely control their own destiny as far as winning a conference title goes. It appears to me that the team to really worry about is Indy St. as they have already faced all of the conference leaders.

While several Shocker hitters had a great day today, Micah Green's performance stands out to me. Not only did he go 4 for 6 today with 4 rbis, he had a great weekend.

You're dead on about the Trees. If they happen to sweep ISUr this weekend, I'll crown them then and there.

We need to sweep the next 2 series, then find some way to go 3-3 against MSU and CU. 5 losses would win the league. I don't there's a chance in the world we can do either, but it's out there at least.

At least WSU does own the tiebreaker with Indy State as they went 2-1 against the Trees. It would be very tough, but at least there is still a chance.

You are right about that. IF WSU can some how find a way to sweep the next 2 series and then go 3-3 against MSU and Cu there is NO way Indy State could pass up the Shockers. If Indy St sweeps all 3 of their remaining series the best they could end up with is 16-5. If the Shox sweep the next 2 series and then go 3-3 against MSU/Cu they would also be 16-5 but would own the tie breaker with the Trees.

Looking at the stats it definitely looks like 5 loses will win the conference (Cu already has 4 and MoST already has 3 and both have to play each other yet AND both have to play WSU). Indy St has the easiest path left but they already have 5 losses.

Too bad I couldn't make it to Peoria this weekend. I did get to listen to the games on the radio. I hope I am not bad luck for them, they seem to do better in the games I miss.

I guessed I missed what is going on with Kris Gardner. Is he injured?

I am not sure. He might be. But he certainly isn't pitching like he did last year.

Good work with the road sweep this weekend. Gives them a decent shot at the league. Won't happen without the development of some heart and scrap though. This team would be a lot easier to get behind if they came out scrappy everyday.

Looks like Kris Gardner is scheduled to start tonight against K state.

Kris did start tonight against Kstate but he failed to get out of the first inning. But if the error to second hadn't happened who knows. If the Shox had turned that double play, he would have been out of the inning having given up no runs.

For what it is worth. Bradley beat MAC Western division leading Northern Illinois 19-0 tonight on the road.

Baseball can be a very strange game sometimes.
