A.J. with the start today. He's hasn't been terrible, but not exactly sharp either. A balk scored BU's first run, but the double right after would have scored both anyway.

It's 2-1 Braves, bottom 4. The Shocks have one weak single. That's it. 1. I suspect 2 runs will be enough for Bradley to even the series.

The futility of these coaches to teach anyone to hit is amazing.

I've been spring cleaning and Masters-ing more than listening to Mike. I did just hear the Shocks get runners at 1st & 3rd with 1 out and not cash in (again).

Still 2-1 Braves bottom 5. No Coy today. Things are so bad for WSU that Micah Green is hitting cleanup. WOW.

Bradley turns a single and a 10 pitch walk (after AJ had Competillo 0-2) into 1 run (a sac bunt and a sac fly) and a presumably insurmountable 3-1 lead.

          Ladwig out, Minnis in.

Minnis comes in and attempts to add gasoline to the fire. Walk. 1st and 3rd.

Max Murphy at the plate....lol. Who's up next? Bump Bailey? Maybe Pop Fisher will go to the bench for a pinch hitter.

          Gas can wide open.

Murphy doubles and it's game over. 5-1 Bradley. No way this team can score 5 runs in 4 innings. NO way.

A 4 run deficit for this team is equivalent to the 2007 team trailing by about 13. Game over.

A quick question, Are you suggesting the current players are capable of significantly better performances, but the coaches don't "teach" them, or are the players just not very good? Another quick question, if you don't mind. If you took away these coaches, and brought in the ones you want, what would their record be with these players? Would we be runaway Valley champs?

I get that everyone is down on Gene, and the baseball team. But when we say Gene has got to go, aren't we also saying, "these players suck, and we need someone who can recruit better players?"

Yes. We need new coaches, and they need to be able to recruit better and bring in better talent than what this team has.

But at the same time I get what the good Dr. is saying - in today game Shox had a BU player in a rundown and screwed it up - Shane response was this team has been terrible all year in executing rundowns. That is strictly coaching, where the coaches work on the fundamental like rundowns. The talent is what it is, there is nothing you can do about it this year, but you can have your team playing fundamental, hard nose, agressive, hustle baseball regardless of your talent level - because that is just heart and that start with the coaching staff - IMO this team is just going through the motions.

Yes. Look, EVERYONE knows Gene isn't going to be around more than next year, if that. Recruits know it. We're missing out because any good player won't come here because they don't know who the coach will be.

                  Yes, we need better players.

Yes, the coaches (especially Gene and JT) have done a terrible job of improving players and game management.

Different (good) coaches would, given time, have this team at least 5 games better against the same schedule. They would still be an average college baseball team, but they would be better than a shade over .500

This is the kind of team we have.

                    Top 7.

                    Struck out looking.
                    Walked.
                    Picked off.

Shocks trying to get it even. Scored 2 (on ONE hit, a leadoff double believe it or not) and have 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs.

Full count on Michael Mucha. He walks.

Tyler Baker coming up. That's 4 walks in the inning. We're going to have a pitching change.

6-5 Braves. Shocks with the bases loaded, 2 outs, top 9.

Wild pitch ties it (2nd of the inning). Baker walks (5th of the inning, 4th in a row).

Dayne Parker up. 1 for his last 21. Will he swing?

                          Tied at 6-6.

                          1-0 to Parker.

                            Correction:

                            Top 9.

                            Bobbit walked.
                            Bayliff struck out.
Harbutz struck out. Bobbit stole 2nd.
                            Green doubled, Bobbit scored.
Gillaspie walked, Doggett runs for him.
                            Double steal.
Moore walks, wild pitch, Green scores. Kihle runs for Moore.
                            Mucha walks.
                            Wild pitch. Doggett scores.
                            Baker walks.
                            Parker flies out.

1 hit, 5 walks, 2 wild pitches, 3 stolen bases. This is about the only way this team scores 3 in an inning.

Peterson in to work the 9th. Coy in at 1st.

Peterson pitches around a 2 out single and we go to the 10th.

Bobbit walks, Bayliff doubles and the Shocks lead.
Harbutz moves him over to 3rd and Green walks.
1st and 3rd and Coy comes to the plate after an 0-5 with 5Ks outing last night.

Bradley with a call to the bullpen.

Did I hear (and see) that right? Coy struck out 5 times last night?

Holy crap. Either the coaching has killed that kid's offense or he's just retracting as a player. I'd suspect the former.

                                ... No really, deuces.
