    Three game summary -

Long Beach hit .315 as a team (30 -95) and struck out 14 times.

Wichita State hit .184 as a team (17 - 92) and struck out 24 times.

Was this a case of their good pitching beat our hitting? Or a case of our piss poor hitting, well, just being piss poor?

Well, I try and stay optimistic. One good thing this year is that league seems to be the weakest top to bottom it has been since I can remember. Come tournament time we should have a decent chance to win it and some younger guys are showing some intermittent sparks. Even have a frosh walk on doing quite well.

There are 4 teams with RPI < 100 (and WSU is 1-4 versus Top RPI teams). Meanwhile WSU start is 8th out of 9 MVC teams. In fact Bradley has a better RPI than WSU.

The tournament is the only way this team will get into post-season play, but I sure wouldn't be rating their chances as "decent", in fact after listening to Gene radio this is what he said the hitters are not competing, have no confidence, they don't seem to have any heart. That is not recipe for having a championship team.

Is it really a good thing for Shocker fans having to depend on the Valley being weak to give the Shocks a fighting chance?

Actually that is kind of depressing when you think about it.

I hate it when a coach blames his players (hitters) in general. You recruited them, you coach them. Take a look in the mirror, Krusty.

It was very disappointing that we couldn't get even one win this weekend. About the best thing that I can say is that at least the games were close and competitive.

How far is that from saying "at least we didn't spike ourselves."

It's mid March....and there is absolutely ZERO hope of an at large. We are out of the discussion and in reality, we were never in it.

We're UMKC, North Dakota State, Longwood, Presbyterian, etc etc. Hell, we WISH we were Arkansas State for crying out loud.

This cannot be allowed to continue.
