It's kind of amazing the improvements over the last 12 months at baseball.
They've restored much of the outfield hill appeal.
Built a cool viewing podium for the right field.
Got rid of the never made sense, faded and often already broken blue seating that frankly, were an eye sore and out of place.
Created a 2nd new 1B side premium viewing area with Minutemen access.
Speaking of the Minuteman room, I don't think it's been a fan accessible room for several years so I'm certain it's getting a fresh coat of paint since it is returning to service.
Are finishing a 3rd new premium seating area with box seats directly behind home plate.
Are also finishing new lower level seating at ground level.
Announced a 2nd (left field this time) outfield hill expansion with outfield wall history.
Although not a lot of publicity about it, needed upgrades have been happening to the suite areas. It's neither complete nor thorough, but it's a start.
Updates to the AA Club are rumored to be in the offing sooner than later.
A new pitching lab has been created and will be expanded.
Gene Stephenson Park is named.
2 tributes to Gene have been announced as well...some kind of mural and a statue as well.
We have a coach that is all in on the WSU program. In his words, he'll be fired or retire here.
We have a team that competes on the field.
Even if you say it's 18 months since HCBG was hired, that's a lot in a short period of time.
Is there more to do? You bet. The suites and AA Club need more updating. I think another set of premium indoor outdoor suites needs to be built, somewhere. The outfield hill will need a little more work, tying everything together with some kind of facility (even if it's stealing some of the parking for bathrooms and food trucks) addition and outdoor cooking availability. We'll need an RV park (a nod to ADKS and 'Skip) at some point.
Oh, and we need people to show up. And we need to win.
I still think we need a League 42 dedicated area where kids from the league get in free. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing if we (Shockernet) could pull together some kind of sponsorship to make that happen. I have no idea what kind of "deal" could be made with the Athletic Department, but say the top 2 rows of the yellow seats in section J....38 seats retails for $3800, I'm sure we could get a discount for volume or charity but if not, just pare down the number of tickets. Could we find 10 $200 small business sponsors (or individuals) to commit for 5 seasons to that? $1000 commitment over 5 years. Maybe someone could talk to Bob and see what kind of interest he would have? I'd be 1, do I hear 9 others? I'm certain someone here could create signage (if desired) to recognize Jackie Robinson and League 42 (and the sponsors if needed). Our kids (the Shockers baseball team) need and deserve their support and the League 42 kids need and deserve the kind of leadership this team can provide.
Just spitballing today.
Decisions are made by those who show up. Class dismissed. (That's for you WuShock16)

Coach and the school are finally starting to be smart. Do updates, honor Gene and Brent. That makes the old faithful alumni happy.
Now no pressure. WIN!! As a lower level mid major team it will be difficult. BUT get hot like last year and win the tournament championship and we have a chance!! Let play some ball!!

1)The bleachers will be moved to Wilkins Stadium (more to come there)
2)The outfield wall will be changed to some kind of see through wall.
3)There will be a 2 tier pavilion built with casual seating on field level (with the ability to see out) and a higher seating/standing level above. There is hope/anticipation that opposing left fielders will be made uncomfortable at appropriate times. This will be named the Kosich Pavilion. Where the viewing ends and the outfield wall returns to as it is today, there is supposed to be some kind of tribute to WSU greats...some kind of a circle of honor I think. It also might just be for 10. It looks really good and along the lines of what I've been hoping to see for some time.
I also believe they are hitting the ground running here. It may not be ready for Fullerton, but I believe it will be in place this season.
Again, thank you Thomas!Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

All this right here is why I am WAY higher on ADKS than most. Baseball has a pulse (and a very strong one) for the first time in as long as I can remember.
Also, if something materializes about getting kids in there, count me in for that commitment. That's 2.Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

the last time we made a regional was 2013. If you count that. The NCAA doesn’t. So really it’s 2009. That’s 16 years ago. Not 1 player was even playing baseball the last time we made a regional. So I consider that a “lower” mid major.
I realize there are 300ish teams so maybe we are not lower but how many realistically have a shot??
I didn’t mean to disrespect just a realist!!Last edited by Old School "Shocker"; 5 hours ago.
