No one wants the program to go from bad to good in a single stroke more than I, but it can take time to float sinking ships. Not letting last night snowball into more than it was would STILL be good progress for the team and program. Go win a road conference series against a competent but beatable team and things will be going just fine.

Felt like the moment was just a tad too big for us last night. Maybe we'll learn from it and get better. I do appreciate what this staff and team has done to get to this point. Would be wonderful if they can manage to take the next step.
I realize I have a bias, but that was a piss ****ing poor call in the first place on Cam at 1B. I know it's on Cam to NOT slide...but in the moment, how do you not see/hear at least a tie. Call him safe then overrule if needed. AND FFS, it's CLEAR on the 3rd angle he's safe. Ball is CLEARLY not in the glove and his hand is in contact with the bag. Was it close? Yes. Was he out? NFW
If we tie (and we did, Blue) it's an entirely different game.
Thought we made a big error bringing Tyler out after 80 pitches. Just my opinion.
KState's closer is the real deal.
You can't say Chuck gets cheated at the dish. Strides to plate wearing the silver sombrero and still manages a big hit.
KState's probably better than we are, but not by much. And they were a top 25 preseason team and likely a tournament team. I'll take my chances.
Pitching depth is still an issue. Have to develop more kids and length. HUGE weekend imho upcoming. I've seen UAB several times. This is a must have series win and frankly should be a sweep. This game needs to be shaken off and a tough, determined and strong statement given in Birmingham starting Friday.
I wonder what they are going to do with Dobbs. We're limited on travel to AAC games. Do you take a guy that threw 90 pitches Tuesday? Tough call.

This truly was a tremendous full-extension layout catch by Davyn Johnson:

Destiny seemed to still be using her shot put form.
I have always wondered how tall Destiny is as the don't list the info on the track & field roster. #27 is Caleb Anderson who is listed at 6' even on the baseball roster. Looks lie he and Destiny pretty much see eye-to-eye.

A pair of singles from Gustafson and Rogers and a sac fly by Cam Johnson scores the 1st run of the game for the Shocks in the 2nd. Nice execution.
Both singles were to the opposite field.Last edited by 1972Shocker; April 10, 2024, 07:43 PM.

S'more small ball in the 3rd. Haworth with a 1-out line drive single to center promptly stole second and went to 3rd when a wide throw to the 1st base side of second got away from the KSU shortstop. Durnin worked the count full then hit a 2-hopper to the 1st baseman. Haworth went on contact and easily beat the throw home as Durnin reached 1st on the fielder's choice.
Davyn Johnson then lined a double into the left field corner with Durnin scoring all the way from 1st. Shocks up by 3-0.
The Shocks have 5 hits. 3 to the opposite field and 2 sharply hit singles back up the middle by Haworth.
Caleb gets through the bottom of the third on 8 pitches.
The Shockers threatened in the 4th but failed to execute after Roger was hit by a pitch and moved to 2nd on a single up the middle by Cam Johnson. After Seth struck out on 3 pitches, Birge laid down a bunt on a safety squeeze that was played well by the KSU pitcher who got Rogers at the plate. Haworth grounded into a force play to end the Shocker at bat.
A little surprised they bring Anderson back out for the 4th but his pitch count is not bad at 32 pitches. A walk, a single and a wild pitch put KSU runners at 2nd and 3rd with not outs. A high hopper to 3rd scored the runner from 3rd as Cam Johnson took the out at 1st. The runner on 2nd moved up to 3rd. A shallow pop to right produced the 2nd out and was not deep enough to score the runner from 3rd although Storh almost threw past Alex Birge way up the line. A little blooper that Durnin could not quite get to scored a 2nd run. That will do it for Anderson and Jack Mount is on to try to close out the inning. On an attempted steal Birge made and absolutely perfect throw to cut down the runner at 2nd, his 2nd caught stealing in 2 attempts in this game. I think Birge definitely has a better arm than Mo does behind the plate.
