It was a beautiful day for baseball. I don't disagree with anything that has been posted so far, but I think I will have to see a few more games before I can get a good sense of this team. It was just nice being outside watching baseball on a beautiful day in Wichita.

My sense is that there is not going to be any shocking improvement like this team is somehow going to become the incarnation of the 1998 team. They will probably be a lot like 2012 team, with the hope being they are little more consistent and that will lead in a few more wins in MVC play and in non-conference play and they will be at-large material.

Thanks for the reports. I wasn't able to make it out on Saturday. I do hope to catch at least some of the game on Tuesday.

Looks like another beautiful day for baseball. I will be heading out to the Eck in about an hour or so.

I thought Casey looked good in right field. showed a strong arm and enough speed if he keeps at it he could start there.

I like both starting pitchers. Just Freshmen but they worked the zone.

Second base for the gold showed range getting to 3 or 4 ground balls.

So far I have watched 5 different starting pitchers and all have looked very good.

They were doing the past players golf tournament today (not the best weather) and talked to a couple guys. I guess Joe Carter is back and playing in it, one of the guys said he can hit the ball really far. Go figure haha.

The Gold ties the FWS at 3-all with a 13-11 win on Thursday. Each team banged out 16 hits which included 7 doubles, 2 triples and 3 home runs. Final game scheduled for 2:30 Saturday. With the weather forecast there is a good chance this will be pushed forward to Sunday.

The FWS is kind of a no-win situation. If we pitch well, you walk away wondering about the offense. If we hit well you walk away wondering about the pitching. All 24 runs were earned so at least it wasn't a problem with defense.

Good grief, did Adam Wainwright pitch in that Thursday game? (Sorry, just a disgruntled Cardinals fan here who's not too happy with Mike Matheny -- how many extra base hits does a guy have to give up before it's clear he doesn't have it tonight?)

Yah, how disgruntled are you now? Maybe you shouldn't give up too early on the Cards just like when you tell WSU fans not to give up too early on situations.

                            ... No really, deuces.

Zach Berringer came in and pitched one inning today and looked great. He got the 3 outs in less than 10 pitches.

Black won the game and the series. Chase Simpson continued his hot hitting going 4 for 6. Bob Arens and Mikel Mucha each went 3 for 5 today.

Any leads on his availability this spring?? I would certainly not expect those numbers, but the average and extra-base pop looks encouraging. He certainly roped a couple during the game I attended. Adding his bat to Coy/Gillaspie/Bayliff would be enough to get me excited. Putting 3-4 guys in the middle of the lineup that can hit a little can have a pretty large cumulative effect on everyone's BA.
