Yeah, that's kind of always the case. Does anyone know if any of our decommitted incomers were drafted?

A lot of elite HS kids were not drafted. That is mostly because they won't sign unless it's worth skipping college. Some had a 7 figure min

...and with fewer draft rounds, teams probably can't risk drafting guys who might or might not sign.
          78-65

This might end up being the quiet bonus for the student athletes. I saw somewhere recently a stat about MLB drafts the last 10 years and the % to get to league and I think maybe 17% was tops for all the franchises. And that's just playing 1 game which while living the dream doesn't ensure financial success. If many more high school kids choose college instead, that seems like a good thing for their long term success.

Not to my knowledge. I didn't see any. As has been posted, there are a number of reasons that HS kids are no longer as hot of a commodity as they once were. Which, IMO, bodes well for WSU and college baseball. You will be seeing a lot more of those talented kids go to college.

Yes you are right on with that stat. I saw where 1st round HS picks that play 1 game in the MLB is like 65%. But falls to 19% to start 25 games in the MLB, and that's 1st rounders. HS catcher is the lowest, only 6 1st rounders since 2010 have played a game in MLB.

And who did the Royals select with their 1st round pick? You guessed it. A HS catcher.

The kid is a good athlete, a really good hitter, and pitches as a closer up to 98 mph. They’d be smart to move him to the outfield immediately. The closer possibility could be Plan B or C, if he doesn’t work out as a hitter.

                        Anyone remember this former player?

Round 16: Arizona State RHP Josh Hansell (No. 469)

Hansell played his freshman year in 2020 at Wichita State before transferring to ASU. His father, Greg Hansell, had a 5.56 ERA across four MLB seasons with the Dodgers, Twins, Brewers and Pirates in the late ‘90s.

Sure...one look at Josh and you would have thought he was destined for the bigs. Actually, if I remember correctly, he had a great first game at WSU, maybe even like no hit some mid week team over 3+ innings. Unfortunately, he didn't get hardly anyone else out the rest of the year. I forgot he went to ASU. Must have done well there. He certainly had the physical tools. Reminds me a little of Ty Howry (also from AZ). All the tools, but couldn't get anyone out. I don't think Josh threw as hard at Ty...but both guys could give up a lot of runs fast.
