The Shockers scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the 7th to increase their lead to 4-0. That rally was started by freshman Jaden Gustafson. The Shocks replaced Gustafson in left field with Jordan Rogers, presumably for defensive purposes.Originally posted by ABC View Post
Houston's lead off batter in the 8th hit a high fly to left center. Rogers had plenty of time to get under it and it appeared he was calling for it. Kyte McDonald was coming over from center but was looping back behind Rogers. At the last minute Rogers veered off his path and McDonald did not have time to react and the ball fell in for a gift double. Shane Dennis said maybe Rogers lost the ball but I didn't think so. Looked to me like Rogers though McDonald was moving in to make the play at the last second but there was no indication that I could see that was happening, but in any case Rogers pulled up and the ball fell in.
Fortunately, it only led to one run for Houston and the Shocks went on to the 6-1 win.Comment
