It's probably a good thing that the tournament wasn't held in Wichita this year. If the Shockers ended up losing their first two games, which would be a possibility, who would watch the games?

Same number or more than will watch it in Normal or Terre Haute. Just sayin'.

Very true, Shocker85 -- not even close, in fact.

If they are just going to hand the bid out to anyone, then they need to eliminate the bidding and let the league winner host.

They used to do that (give it to the regular season champ). But in those days WSU always won the league and always got to host. By changing to a bid process at least they made WSU pay the league money to host.

It looks like they should be able to go back to the league champion hosting since it's not like WSU is winning the league all the time now.

Welp, the Salukis dropped us into the loser's bracket in the first game last year; time to enact some revenge this year. It would nice to see the boys put up some fight in this thing for once.

Should be a great atmosphere in Normal.

                  ... No really, deuces.

I think a game is about to start in this picture. Players must just be out of frame.

Looks to me like ILS, WSU, CU and MSU are more less co-favorites to win the Valley Tournament and represent the Valley in the NCAA Tournament.

I think WSU and CU have the toughest frist round games.

CU gets Indiana State who swept the Bluejays in the regular season. I think CU is playing better and INS is playing worse since then but I assume CU will be going up against Sean Manaea and he can be tough.

The Shocks will no doubt be facing Cody Forysthe of SIU who beat them earlier this year and is 3-0 plus 1 no decision in his career vs the Shocks. The Shocks beat SIU last year in a game Forsythe started but SIU lead 3-2 after 7 innings and the Shocks rallied agaisnt the SIU bullpen for a 10-inning win.

Cale Elam only made it through 3 innings vs SIU earlier this year so we will need a much better outing from him. If Cale can match Forsythe until we can get to the bullpens then the Shocks should have the advantage.

I am not sure any of the Valley teams are capable of winning 5 in a row, which is what you have to do if you lose the 1st round game. The longest winning streak the Shocks have had this year is 4 games and those weren't generally against the meat of the schedule. I suppose our most impressive streak was our 3-game sweep of MSU.

If an MVC baseball Tournament happens and nobody is there to watch it does it actually count?

Looks like there is a lot of foul territory.

All seating is GA. There is no reserved seating. Not that one seat is much different than any other. All session passes for the Valley Tourney are $30. Individual Sessions are $10.

Just as an aside all home, regular-season events for Baseball, Softball, Soccer, XC, Track & Field, Swimming and Diving, Gymnastics, Tennis and Golf are free of charge.

Well, the field looks better, and it may be free during the regular season, but there's still more people on the field than in the stands.

The eastern schools want their day in the sun too. The Valley cares more about evenness, than about money, or prestige.

We're gonna look like the 15th rated conference we are the next couple of years with the locations of our post season tournament. I mean, we're gonna look BIG TIME.
