You are correct DrWu…our approach, assuming you are referring to hitting, is…mmm, a little more aggressive than I would expect to see. Lots of first pitch swings. Perhaps thats the intent…I don’t know.

That being said, Pennington’s first pitch swing went for a triple in the 10th, and scored the winning run.

16 innings tomorrow and Caden Favors surely won’t be available. We’ll need to score some runs.

The pitching has been inconsistent so far. Some good and some not so good. Offensively, the middle of the lineup guys (Pennington, Tolle and Millan) have been pretty solid but the top of the lineup and the bottom of the lineup need to pick it up and provide some production. Not sure about the defense although probably comparable to last year. There have been a few baserunning mistakes. A couple of solid games and wins tomorrow and I think we'll feel a bit better about this team. That's far from a given though.

I don't think Caden Favors was dominate by any means today but he brought his lunch pail and hard hat with him and he battled and competed and held Utah Tech in check until his team could scratch out a couple of runs. I think he has to be the POG for the Shocks today.

We have plenty of things to work on, but they are, in many cases, fixable. One of the biggest is that we are doing a good job of getting ahead of batters and we've had a lot of guys 0-2 all season.

But we've struggled to get them out from there, and mostly importantly, we've made too many mistakes 0-2 that we've been punished for and that has to change and absolutely is fixable.

Situational hitting needs to improve and things like giving Mo the green light 2-0, first and second & no outs, is fine, but then he cannot get fooled (which he absolutely did). You look 1 pitch, 1 spot and if it's anything else, you take. You can't pop out to the shortstop. Just can't do it.

Pennington is crushing the ball as expected. Tolle isn't but he is getting on base and driving home some runs. Sawyre might have gotten well today.

Plate umpire struggled. But we HAD to win that game and finding a way is good. Caden is definitely done for the weekend. I do hope we get to see Dillhoff, Wilkinson, Snead and Mulhollon at some point tomorrow. Maybe even Matt Boyer?
