I love the way Candiotti goes about his business. We could use another five guys like him. Not sure he has the stuff to be a Friday ace, but we’ll see.

My main concern coming into these first seven games was getting off to a slow start like the last 2 seasons (basically the last 3 if you ignore the COVID year). These guys have to learn how to win and not get down on themselves.
Kind of feels like things are just not going our way (in addition to playing below their standards). Rodden smokes one right at the 2B, Rogers lines out to CF right on the button, Pennington smokes one to LF for a single and Tolle goes the other way but pretty much right at the LF. Nothing to show for 4 guys hitting the ball hard.
Strike zone (so far) appears very very large. Let's see what it is for the Candy man.
So far....not so much. I know I'm biased but Clark isn't getting the same zone early.
These guys just do not get cheated. They are swinging for the fences all the time. Like everyone swings like they are Pennington plus.
Candiotti hits the 3rd guy (absolutely a purpose pitch) and then gives up a single but another flyout and there's no damage. No score after 1.

The ball is going to carry to RF. Mo didn't hit one all that hard and it carried to the warning track. UT starts off the 2nd with a drive that just missed being a HR. Swinging bunt gets him to 3rd with one out and brought home on a fly to center. Kyte made a good throw but the ball was too deep and Candiotti made a bad pitch 0-2 (which has been something the staff has struggled with so far). 1-0 Utah Tech after 2.

As I said, the ball is going to carry to RF. Sawyre looked bad on his 1st 3 swings but the 4th left the yard. 1-1. After that a lot of strikes and Rodden, Rogers and Pennington go down in short order. 1-1 Bottom third.

You need to be ready and paying attention with the pitch clock this season. It's catch and throw (and it's beautiful) with very little delay.
Tolle just misses a double that is foul then pops out. Millan misses in the same spot but then he straightens one out and gets a double.
Stroh (who is going to have to learn how to hit the deuce or he can't play) pops up to shallow left that almost finds a hole but the LF made a heck of a play to slide and get the 2nd out.
Scooter might not see the end of this one. He's already chatted with the plate ump once. Kyte's strike 2 was a ball. He grounds one off the pitcher's leg (it's a hit otherwise) and the Shocks are turned away. 1-1 Bottom 4.
