Was this always allowed, or did something change? I only recall the intra squad games previously.

Looking forward to watching these exhibition games this fall Cowley should be an interesting game because of their past success. Go Shocks

Softball has played fall exhibition games for sometime know but the use of pitching in softball is a lot different than baseball with overuse or injury not being much of a concern.

Have they always charged for exhibitions?

Not sure. I remember food bank donations for the Fall World Series. Can't remember what they did for fall game against Nebraska a few years ago (for example).

Wow! Chuck seems to be on fire so far this fall! Heard that practices are open. Has anyone been and seen the guys in person? Wondering how everyone is looking

The Chuck and Fall Baseball? That doesn’t make sense. Are you talking basketball or baseball?

I hope our pitchers don't throw too many pitches like that in a real game.

That's FR Nate Snead on the bump. He was just getting loose and giving Chuck straight 80% fastballs up is a perfect way to dent cars in the outfield parking lot.

I snuck in for a bit yesterday again to see how they looked. It's early, and it's against themselves, so opinions are relative and don't mean much yet.

I was pleased at how much strength it appears the returners have added during the off season. Ingram, Rodden & Stroh, for instance, look like tanks.

Rodden looks fantastic and professional at short. David Herring looks good there as well. I can't imagine those 2 won't be up the middle in some order. Rodden is hitting a ton. He's so strong now. I hope he doesn't have WIllie Mays Hayes disease and try to hit a home run every at bat. If he does he'll hit about 28 dingers and bat .265 and he's capable of .375+ & 15+ homers. Herring also is more than capable at the plate.

They seem to be looking at several people at 3rd and 1st. Thornhill is the obvious leader right now for 3rd. 1st appears wide open.

Pleasant surprise in transfer Garrett Pennington (speaking of another tank). This guy never gets cheated and swings the bat with very bad intentions. He's not the fastest guy on the team (understatement) and I'm not sure where he plays in the field (hard to see him anywhere other than 1st) but his bat will undoubtedly help. Seems a likely candidate for DH, and a dangerous DH.

6'5" freshman Charlie Rogan is a nice target at 1st. He's raw, but there's a lot of upside there.

In the outfield, Ingram is the obvious lock. Jordan Rogers is steady. Will Stark looks fantastic, has filled out (not up) but a quick kid already has managed to bulk up and get faster. Really like that kid. The redshirt season seems to have done Alex Birge a lot of good. Another guy that's bulked up and was hitting a ton.

The newcomers look slight in comparison. Nobody (other than Herring who is not a freshman) stood out in my short observations but there were a few noticeable skills. Jack Little is fast. Really fast. He makes fast guys look, well, not fast. Jarett Flaggert looked pretty comfortable at 3rd and the plate (for a FR).

No real comments on the pitching. It seemed (to my untrained eye) to be more about mechanics and work than a lot of real live pitching, but again, just my opinion. Snead looks imposing on the mound (until Chuck took him about 2 miles out).

                        Oh, That Chuck. LOL

This Chuck is coming to life? Exciting to see. Lot's of natural talent when he gets it figured out. It always seemed like his plate discipline was his biggest problems as he swung at a lot of bad pitches. But he has a lot of natural power, that can't be taught.

The Shocks are scrimmaging for 12 innings beginning at 4 pm this afternoon against the MIssissauga Tigers. I think this is some kind of a 22 and Under club team from the Toronto, Ontario area.
