With the way things have seem to progressed (or not progressed) it is diffiucult to believe that Gene will survive as head coach of the Shockers. Still the man, if nothing else, is comptetitve, driven and apparently a good salesman (or at least has been in the past). Perhaps he can convince Eric that the best approach is to stick with him for now assuming mutually acceptable contract terms can be reached and agree to work with Eric in transitioning to new leadership at some specified time in the future (either a date certain or results induced).

I have to admit that I am a little bit conflicted on the issue of Gene and I'm not totally confident making a change is the right thing to do. I personally don't think it is all that clear cut, but after much introspection I still think it is probably time to move on.

Tough decision for ADES. I suppose there is a small chance Gene will take the high road and make this easy for Eric, but I'm not betting on that.
