What about K-State's coach?

If I was ADES, I would make a serious run at Brad Hill, only after Kevin Seitzer told me no.

You can, but there is a timeframe on it. I think you can delete it up to an hour after you post. I'd need to check the options.

I do kind of remember a thread on Shockernet a year or two ago where Gene's contract and the Kstate and Ku's coaches were very similar but I think with incentives and bonuses Gene was making a little more.
I don't know how Hill would do here. I just looked up Kstate on warren nolan and they are 13-12 this year, tied for next to last in the big 12 with a 2-5 conference record and a rpi of 120. Their best non-conference win is over #117 Minnesota. Doesn't look too impressive to me. (WSU right now is 16-14 with a rpi of 97).Last edited by shox1989; April 1, 2012, 01:25 AM.

This year's regular season is starting to take on new interest for me. At this point it looks like it will be a very competitive race for the Shocks between a above .500 season, a .500 season and a below .500 season.
I think we have an oustide shot at finishing above .500 but I don't see any long winning streaks on the horizon so if we do it won't be by much.
We have a .500 shot at finishing .500. The weather could be the determining factor if we play on odd number of games.
I am not discounting the chances for a sub .500 season at all. This team seems to have all the ingredients to make that happen.
No reason to think much will change in Gene's final two seasons in 2013 and 2014 if he chooses/is allowed to finish out the term of his contract. Gene told us that he no longer believed that he could win at Wichita State and apparently his swan song will be to prove that he was correct in that self-assessment.

Since I don't follow Kstate I looked more into Brad Hill's record. Last year Kstate went 36-25, finished 6th in the big 12 with a 12-14 record but they did make the ncaa tournament going 0-2.
Hill is in his ninth season at Kstate and has gone to the ncaa tournament 3 times. His overall record at Kstate is 279-205-3. That's not bad. Not great but certainly respectable. I would assume if we really went after him Kstate could easily match or exceed our offer, but if Currie really is hard to work for I guess you never know.
Somehow I don't see someone leaving a power 6 conference (where you can finish 6th with a losing conference record and still get an at large bid) to coach in the Valley in baseball, but again the Currie factor could come into play (who could see Frank Martin leaving Kstate to coach at South Carolina?).Last edited by shox1989; March 31, 2012, 10:38 PM.

The insanity of starting Mormann Saturday after Saturday is inexplicable. There is no coherent strategy, synergy or synchronicity between batter, base runner and base coach. I am thoroughly convinced of that. Also, what is with the revolving door at catcher?

Fast forward a year to May 2013.
Assume that the Shocks are coming off their 4th straight season without a regional bid. Also assume, for argument's sake, that ADES has the funds available to can the staff and buy out the last year of their contracts.
Do you pull the trigger and tell Gene to get the hell outta here? Or would you let the old dinosaur go through with a farewell tour that season while driving attendance and revenue further into the abyss?
